India, which has been a popular destination for gay would-be parents seeking surrogacy services, will be so no more, with new regulations barring foreign same-sex couples and single people from entering into surrogacy arrangements there.

The new rules, posted on the Indian Home Ministry’s website, “say foreign couples seeking to enter into a surrogacy arrangement in India must be a ‘man and woman [who] are duly married and the marriage should be sustained at least two years,’”

Completely unfair and ridiculous to think they can't parent a child just as well. And they are being responsible by trying to get pregnant in a decent way, yet peeps want to take issue with them wanting to be parents. Stupid reason in my opinion.

A friend tried this, they swindled him out of 20 thousand dollars, its just a scam anyways. Women selling their kids. Heteros should be bared from buying a woman's child and taking advantage of them being poor and having a uterus.

You are a rabid "Heterophobe" ---intolerance is ugly

why, I meant heteros as well as gay people should not be able to use a woman's uterus because she is poor and they have money to use her.

Well that's different-----that said it's her body right? Isn't that the whole cry from the Left? "It's her body"

This is not about abortion, in India you pay a woman to rent you her womb. Womb Service lol... It costs you 20 thousand but its scam, they just tell you the pregnancy didn't take and the 20 thous is non refundable. So they go looking for poor women who need money to do the deed. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

For India, We will see more and more conservative countries do this as western countries legalize gay marriage, Russia did something similar not that long ago.

I personally think it's a good idea because I oppose same gender couples raising children. Why does India object, and how will they stop it? Poverty is pandemic, girls being killed in utero or even at birth is changing the population balance, especially in rural areas, and a few American dollars can go a long way.

Good going India I guess. I'm surprised they have any excess children for adoption with the gender inequality however since boys are preferred as only males can perform the burial rites according to Hindu practices. I wonder what the relation is in terms of boys to girls available for adoption? Somehow I think you'll be getting a baby girl.

Children need the example of BOTH a mother AND a father. Two daddies will only confuse them.

No, I'm not saying "yes" because I'm a homophobic who doesn't believe in gay rights (I fully support that). I said yes because the text of the description reads: "...barring FOREIGN same-sex couples and single people from entering into surrogacy arrangements there." If you're single or gay, and already live in India, I presume you can still access. The only issue I have with the policy is the fact that it still allows STRAIGHT foreign couples access.

And regardless of who has access to the surrogacy system, why would anyone choose that knowing there are plenty of kids in the adoption process wanting loving homes?

It is a good idea for them. It is their country, their rules. I don't have an issue with what they choose to do for their country.
