that's easy. they believe that your own money belongs to you. that you know best how to take care of your family with your own funds. this philosophy leads to lower tax levels which in turn leaves less money in the hands of the past two democrat controlled congresses and now the democrat controlled white house to spend on squirrelly programs that buy them votes and that few if any of us would support ourselves if we had the choice. that is the best "program" that they have given america.

also they are not naive & gentle with those who wish us dead around this planet.

They've grown the "defense" industry into last good export. They've gutted our schools, gutted our infrastructure, and gutted workers rights. They've tried to oppress anyone who isn't white southern protestant land owner, and they've generally made very few people EXTREMELY RICH.

Did I miss something... Oh yeah, they ignored important intelligence and let 3000 people die in a terrorist attack.

But neither have Democrats. To work together is the only way to get things done.

I was reading your list and The Marshall Plan intrigued me. I have heard of it but never really looked into it to find out what it was ('47-'51 was well before my time) "The Marshall Plan (officially the European Recovery Program, ERP) was the primary program, 1947–51, of the United States for rebuilding and creating a stronger economic foundation for the countries of Europe" and this helped the U.S. how exactly?

Of course - Sometimes people don't like to hear the truth! The fact is the ability to understand and relate to the needs of the people, communicate to gain the trust of the American public and offer solutions that are best for the country not the party are much better than pushing though programs that don't work and no one really wants. Ronald Regan had the ability to gain the confidence of this nation and worked to make it a better America rather than tout the praises of his party and point fingers at others.

it answers it squarely. the best gop program is consistently empowering the individual citizens to better themsleves and their familes with the fruit of their labor and thrift.

Except that the GOP really doesn't do that-- they have been raising taxes and fees CONSISTENTLY over the last 20 years, and have been doling out pork projects that benefit very few people-- just like the Democrats.

And as for the fruit of our labors--
20 years doling pork projects benefit people-- democrats fruit labors--

you're sounding like obama, a guy who has trouble speaking the truth. tax and spend is the central theme of the democrats - demonstrated in spades by the leftists who have hijacked the party of late.

jobs go where the economic climate is most attractive - our combined tax rate on income is among the highest of all of our competitors.

no thats not true - that is a program!

its the most effective programs for reducing unemployment and encouraging growth and national prosperity. a leftist might not recognize it though, since its not a typical tax and spend program like obamacare.

And the best president in my life time, all 63 years of it. Of course you didn't live through the Carter years did you! Although it appears that Obama is getting pretty close to bringing them back.

A huge amount of the problems we're currently facing can be traced back to the actions taken by Reagan and his administration.

Hey I only can go by what I experienced and lived through in life not what I'm told by others. I felt proud to be an American during his presidency and there was a complete turnaround in our economy from the Carter years.

Personally I find far, far more similarities between the (R)'s and (D)'s to support either. Having said that, I will give credit where credit is due. The civil rights act could not have been passed without the republicrats. Reagan was a not bad president, but not as godlike as the (R)'s would have you believe.
