Agree- His statue should be removed

He knew of the atrocities and did nothing. The worst kind of evils will happen when good men stand by and do nothing. Thus transforming those supposedly good men into evil men.

If he took action when the opportunity presented itself, I'd say let the bronze stand. Persons of authority overlooking moral standing don't deserve public hero worship.

it shoule either:

a) be removed and melted into slag

or

b) be auctioned off with the money going to the victims
