Yes+31When under 75 years of communistic rule, millions of Russians did. Despite ridicule, harassment, confiscation of religious property. Atheism was the accepted teaching. Religious beliefs will never perish.

Looks like you are one of those believers that "silos" there brain to accept science where you need to but filter it out when it interferes with your belief. I would have to say most Americans fall into this type.
Again . FAITH .. hope .. belief ..
that is a personal matter .. one that I am (obviously)
more willing to listen to and respect with the curiosity of the sci/tech within ..
it is often that when one reaches out .. learns about the faith of others .. that you find the COMMONALITY between family life .. across the cultures .. across the faiths ..
(each year .. I take some time to go do a little bit of exploration .. in combination with my personal research (going into the stacks) .. I tend to also explore one more aspect of human life .. the faiths of those who are willing to invite me into their lives for a bit of time to teach and share their personal thoughts, values .. goals .. beliefs ..
Millions of children who believe anything adults tell them, as we speak, are being indoctrinated into a possibly life long mindset to believe in imaginary beings.
If children were denied religious indoctrination until age 18, religious myth would wither away in . . . . about 50 years.
Also, they are mostly Eastern Orthodox, which is an almost nonexistent denomination in America. You realize you christians have over 38,000 denominations? That doesn't include the many christians I meet that are basically a denomination of one.
His/her knowledge was strictly secular. Science, geology, astronomy, etc.
Then one day that person was asked "Is there a God?"
Without any evidence for or against, the logical answer would be, "I don't know".
(since no one has disproven the existence of God)
That person would be considered an agnostic (not an atheist).
The only reason they would state "there is no god" is if they were taught that.
Atheism is a belief system. A belief that there is no God or a disbelief in his existence.
Atheism is. Since there is no evidence against the existence of God, it can't be considered a fact, or a truth, or a principle or a policy, or a doctrine, or a dogma.
Beliefs don't necessarily have to be religious (beliefs).

I assumed we were talking about the Christian god too.
But, for those that truly see, they will know God and their lives will be better.
