They(the black voters) said a person needs to vote for the person who looks like them; and that's why they chose Obama.

Turn about is fair play;right?

Last time the American people were told that if you don’t vote for Obama it was because you’re a racist. This time the American people need to vote for any one other than Obama to prove that they are not stupid.

I am not sure if you're being factious with this or if you're serious.

So I am not sure how to respond. So, I will respond in honesty. I am black, and I actually don't know anyone who claims they voted for Obama solely based on his race. All of the ppl. I knew who voted for him said that they did so, because they felt he was the better candidate.

If we voted for Obama based on his race, who would blacks have voted for before their was a black Presidential Candidate?

You didn't understand my point, and I am not sure why. I didn't say I didn't know anyone who voted for Obama, what I said was: "I actually don't know anyone who claims they voted for Obama solely based on his race. All of the ppl. I knew who voted for him said that they did so, because they felt he was the better candidate."

I don't know you, have no interest in fighting over my perspective. I don't believe a difference in perspective does an enemy make, but you seem to be attempting to find fault with my very basic comment. You don't even have the decency to call the President by his name... So we're done here.

The Democrat, because they claimed to "care" more about the "plight" of minorities even though most of them couldn't have cared less.

Politics are a dirty business, and very few of them have clean hands. If you think any candidate is a choir boy based on their affiliation then you're kidding yourself.

I am a moderate Democrat because they typically legislate within my best interest as a middle class, educated, professional black woman.

Do I think any party is perfect? No
Do I think any candidate is above breaking promises? No
Do I take the time to learn about each candidate? Yes
Do I follow their career when they're in office? Absolutely Yes!

Am I interested in fighting over what my perspective? Not all Sodaheads are here to fight. In my opinion nothing could be more un American. I am entitled to my opinion and provided I state it respectfully, only an idiot feels as though they should level attacks based on a difference in opinion.

Sounds like it will be interesting to discourse with you in the future; I should have said, because in my experience with at least white democrats on here, they make the appearance of caring, .It's hard to believe that Democrats in Washington really give a damn about minorities because the conditions never change. Oh, and by no means do I think Republicans are choir boys, but they aren't the ones who claim to care about people and leave their constituents living in squalor and crime, and advocate abortion as birth control and, in the name of not passing judgment, never once mention that reining in your appetites, , whether sexual, or in other ways, might be a good way to start to help their own community.

I am a minority, and I am a born again Christian. I hold myself in high moral standards and conduct myself accordingly.

I believe in reigning in all appetites. All help, all charity and all love begins with self. Having said that... I am insulted with any suggestion that indulgence and unchecked appetites are relegated to any singular group. If you are suggesting that minorities are the only ones that need to check themselves than you have a lot to learn.

Not sure exactly what that comment alludes to, but in the context of SodaHead interactions... I can say I completely disagree.

If you haven't noticed the hatred, bile and almost blood thirsty diviseness of the Right here on SH then apparently we're don't see the same threads. I don't think any group really demonstrates the moral high ground enough to point fingers at another one. Having said that it takes a certain level of hubris to point fingers at white liberals and minorities for their so called "sexual misconduct" when Republicans are constantly getting caught with their pants down (literally) in scandals that are in direct opposition to their public faces and legislations. I won't waste my time revisiting them. Because I am late for church right now, but I hope you will consider that only" he without sin should be throwing stones."

    Have a great Sunday.

That is a rude comment to my thoughtful and respectful attempt to dialogue. This is why I've found that it doesn't make sense to attempt a civil discourse. It always comes down to nastiness with your ilk. Okay chief, you've learned nothing from my shared perspective, and after all insulted me. Point taken... We're done here.

Is there a principled reason to choose someone to rule over others? How about all votes be public record and are counted as power of attorney for the voter? How many people would let a politician have power of attorney for them? If you wouldn't, why would you give them the right to determine how much to take from your income and give them a gun to ensure they can make it happen?

So have almost every Democrat candidate since Kennedy. So, that really doesn't mean anything. Other than most black voters will most likely vote for a Democrat. Also, since we've only ever had one actual black person run for President, you really can't make a correlation based on skin color vs. the skin color of the voter.

Good point. But according to Morgan Freeman, this guy is not our First Black president. We have yet to have a First Black President....just sayin....and the post is accurate. Some ppl voted for him because they wanted to vote for what they believed to be the First Black president. You know its true. Some ppl just want to be on the bandwagon.

I know, Mormonism is a very crazy religion, crazier than most.

Early Mormonism had a range of policies and doctrines relating to race in regard to black people of African descent. References to black people, their social condition during the 19th century, and their spiritual place in Western Christianity as well as Mormon scriptures were complicated, with varying degrees and forms of discrimination against black people.
When the Mormons migrated to Missouri they encountered the pro-slavery sentiments of their neighbors. Joseph Smith, Jr. upheld the laws regarding slaves and slaveholders, but remained abolitionist in his actions and doctrines.
Following the death of Joseph Smith, Jr., Mormon leaders beginning with Brigham Young instituted a policy of excluding most people of black African descent (regardless of actual skin color) from Priesthood ordination and from participation in temple ceremonies. These practices continued in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) until the 1978 Revelation on Priesthood, which was canonized as Official Declaration—2.

I am not going to dissect another's religious beliefs nor the history of that religion. Its none of my business. As long as ppl do not throw it in my face, I don't care if they wear sparklers and shoot glitter guns at one another in the privacy of their own homes. They have free will as long as I don't pay for their folly. I think a person can believe in not mixing the races without being a racist.
Mitt Romney is not a racist.
