If you were a Marine fighting in Afghanistan, would you prefer having a fellow Marine fighting next to you or an Afghan trainee who may possibly shoot you in the back?

At least 52 members of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force
have been killed this year by Afghans wearing police or army uniforms, eroding
confidence between the sides. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/10/us-nato-afghanistan...

The US is literally training their own Taliban enemies to kill American soldiers

RYAN: We're sending fewer people out in all of these hotspots to do the same job that they were supposed to do a month ago.

BIDEN: Because we turned it over...

RYAN: But we took 22,000 people out...

BIDEN: ... we turned it over to the Afghan troops we trained. No one got pulled out that didn't get filled in by trained Afghan personnel.

RYAN: Spring, summer, fall. It's warm, or it's not. They're still fighting us. They're still coming over the passes. They're still coming into Zabul, to Kunar, to all of these areas, but we are sending fewer people to the front to fight them. And that's...

BIDEN: That's right, because that's the Afghan responsibility. We've trained them.

The trainees have proven themselves a bit...what is the word? Unreliable?? Ummm, untrustworthy? Maybe we can just go with ENEMIES. They are killing as many of our troops as the ones we are supposed to be saving THEM FROM lately.

The only person I want guarding the flank of ANY of our soldiers is OUR SOLDIERS. thank you for your service be safe

I'd want that trainee - who would have been trained before being allowed to just go out and fight beside me. I'd be more than happy to know that as soon as those Afghan soldiers were ready that I could get my arse home to the US.

oops, none of the above in fact. I say who gives a rats ass weather its a marine or not, a fellow american soldier would do just fine. but at the same time they could always go off the deep end and shoot me to so really, I think id just rather not fight :-)

Actually Sir, If you dont mind me calling you "sir", which Im sure you don't....I have no problems whatsoever comprehending pretty much anything. My point was that it shouldn't matter what branch of the military someone is in, its not about that. Or is it? and if thats what its about to you, you may want to reacquaint yourself with patriotism. Its about your country, Not your branch of the military.

Amazing how a flaming Liberal can take a simple, basic question and turn it into a cluster f$&k., and lecture a veteran about Patriotism

Im not lecturing, But you did open that door and attack me first. So, doesnt the street go both ways? I respect you for your service to this countr as I do with EVERY veteran...And there is no such thing as "A simple question" as long as one is capable of complex thought. Wouldnt the world be a boring a$$ place if everyone thought and felt the same? I make your world a diverse and interesting place because I am not like you, But I respect you. Give me the same.

No way would I want any one of the Afghans fighting beside me, if I were in the military.
Our troops have already been infiltrated with these murderers-proof is Hasan.
I understand one thing-this administration is not the ones over there fighting and being without proper protection.
What happened to how we won wars by killing our enemies? What are they trying to do now? Convert them?

You don,t know who to trust among the local population. That,s why we should leave them to their own and let them settle it among themselves. Too many of our people have died there for nothing.

I want all my military people as safe as possible in all countries, but certainly so in 3rd world countries who've never know civilization.

That said, I would feel every bit as safe with an Afghan trainee behind me as a United States politician behind me. The Afghan is probably more dedicated to my safety than is any politician. I trust the Afghan MORE than I trust anyone in DC. We aren't sure what the Afghan will do - we KNOW from first hand experience that the DC politicians will destroy us.

I would trust one of my own Countryman rather than having a member of the Afghan Security Forces. There have been a number of instances where members of the Afghan Security Forces have attacked & killed our members of the U.S. Military and/or NATO-led International Security Assistance Force

I was not a marine but was in the army. Learned never to trust the locals when they are armed by our politicians. American politicians have killed or been responsible for more US military deaths than the enemy.

You are so right it is painful. The Afghan soldier is every bit as trustworthy as is any US politician. Our government is our worst enemy - it is killing us all without any help from the outside.
