If you don't think that the father should have an say in his offspring being aborted; what do you think about men FORCING women to GET abortions?

Forcing a woman to get an abortion is just as bad as not allowing her to have one becuase....
Not allowing a woman to have an abortion is worse than forcing a woman to have an abortion because....
Both are okay because....
Neither are okay because....

A lot of people don't think that a woman's husband, boyfriend or "baby daddy" should have any choice in the matter of the destruction of his own flesh and blood, or that the parents of a minor child should not be able to prevent their daughter from having an abortion. Well, I have a question for these people; what do you think of "baby daddys" forcing the mothers of their children to abort, or parents forcing their daughters to abort? Isn't that just as bad? If not, then why, and if so, than why?

I think that the father SHOULD have a say and that women shouldn't be able to murder their child if he disapproves.

I believe in a woman's right to choose
Guys your choice has already been made, you had the option of condom, vasectomy or if this was something important to you discussing it before hand and not having unprotected sex with someone who has such different values basically you had the right to your body now don't try to take hers

Neither is okay. It should be the woman's choice alone as to whether or not she has an abortion.

All forced medical procedures are illegal.

A woman's decision to choose to have an abortion is a protected right under the due process clause of the 14th Amendment.

What if she wants an abortion while she is in labor? Assuming she and the child are perfectly healthy and the delivery is going as it should and she just decides at the last minute that she wants an abortion.

You can play the what if game all day long. I think a woman should have her mind made up before the fetus is viable outside the body, that's at 16 weeks. Before that it can't live without her. Late term abortions aren't allowed in this country except in special circumstances and the % is very low. If a man doesn't want his woman to have an abortion, then he should be careful who he has sex with.

I think that if parents haven't been aware enough to have prevented their child from getting pregnant they don't have the right to force her to have a child of her own. It's that old saw about locking the barn door after the horse has ran away or putting the genie back in the bottle. I'm glad I didn't have to do anything like that.

That example is ridiculous. Abortions stimulate labor. Once a woman is in labor her only option is adoption.

well, more people are negatively affected forcing a women to come to term than it is to force a women to have an abortion. If the child is born it contributes to our overpopulation problem and each and every tax payer is negatively affected because more tax dollars are more than likely going to be needed to raise that child and the burden on the women basically destroys any chance at a happy and successful life. While the opposite extreme has no negative affect on the tax payers or makes our overpopulation problem worse meaning their are more resources for everyone and fewer tax dollars are needed or spent frivolously. The only person negatively affected is the women who in time with the proper support can live a happy and wealthy life.

Well I was really calculating the lesser of two evils, I will say if a women is under the age of 18 then the only moral thing the parents could do is make the women get an abortion as it is within their parental authority and the right thing to do to save their child's future. You also assume that all pro choice people are the same as I am, this is invoking cowboy fallacy where you assume that just because you have seen my opinion it's true of everyone who's on my side effectively justifying your straw-man view of all of us. Do know however that I have argued with other pro choice people over the issue on when it would be ok to force a women to get an abortion. My general rule is if the women is under the age of 18 it is a moral imperative of the parents to force their daughter to get an abortion. What I am actually saying is comparable in context is effectively stealing while bad isn't as bad as say assault.

Well, my polls aren't like American politics; you aren't forced to choose the lesser of two evils. What about adoption? There are plenty of couples out there who would be more than glad to love and care for the unwanted children of the world. Yes, many end up as "wards of the state" but this can be prevented by making arrangements BEFORE the baby arrives. I am glad I don't live in your perfect world, Gregory. I'm a minor and I would fight tooth and nail to save my child's life if I found myself pregnant.

Well, the adoption centers are overpopulated so adoption still puts the burden on someone else and the world continues to suffer because of the overpopulation problem. Did you know it takes 10 acres of land to grow enough food for one american who lives on a vegan diet and you could triple that for every american that eats red meat or chicken on a regular basis? Also cultures where abortion was more prevalent were more advanced and more free socially. The way I see it abortion rights are fundamental for a free society and minors can't choose to undergo surgery without parents permission simply because their not mature enough to make that decision. So how would pregnancy be any different? As I'm sure you will eventually learn in biology class that the definition of a parasite is "an organism that uses another organism known as the host for all vital functions to live without providing any vital health benefits to the host." that means a fetus is like any other parasitic infection and like you would expect a parent with a sick child that requires surgery to improve their condition I expect the parents of a pregnant minor to do the right thing and get their child the abortion they need to save their future. In my point of view there is nothing worse than allowing a young women's future be destroyed by a simple mistake that can easily be fixed by surgery.

Both of those things take away her autonomy over her own body. Both deny her freedom and liberty at the most basic level - over what happens to her body. Men have a say in whether they impregnate a woman - we can avoid it by using condoms, getting a vasectomy, not having reproductive sex with a woman. We can hire a surrogate to have a baby for us, adopt children or marry a woman who also wants to have children and hope the two of us will be able to concieve. Those are our choices. Her choices are to use birth control, give an unwanted baby up for adoption or abort before the first trimester is up. In cases where the pregnancy goes horribly wrong and she has to terminate it or risk dying no one should stand in the way of her doing that. People have this ridiculous idea that a dying pregnant woman can be forced to have the baby. If she is dead they both die. In any event a fetus is NOT a viable human being. A woman is. Her body, her say so. Ultimately it must rest with her what to do with her body.

I do not think anyone should force someone who does not want an abortion and neither should they force them to remain pregnant if that do not wish it. forcing someone to do something against their will is never an answer.

Father of the baby, should have a say. However, If one does want to have the baby, and the other doesn't. The one who doesn't should simply sign away their parental rights.
