If You Could Buy Any PISTOL Right Now, What Would It Be?

Lord Emperor of Dune 2012/07/16 07:06:13
Something for lawful concealed carry (which one?)...
Something for paper punching... (which?)
Something for hunting...(which?)
A new safe queen... (which?)
Other (which?)
You!

I ALWAYS have a couple I want, but some are closer to the top of the "must have" list than others. Personally, I have a deep, burning desire for an EAA Witness full-size Poly 10mm or a CZ P-07 Duty. I need a lighter piece for EDC. How about y'all?

5 or 6 years. When I bought it black talons were still readily available so I bought two boxes of those. It came with 2 clips so I kept one loaded with standard 180 gr. and 1 loaded with the black talons. I have target practiced a few times with it and never had any problems with it jamming like I have with other pistols. I bought it because it's what a local sheriff recommended and said they were all using. No complaints as of yet.......I carry it strictly for self defense knowing that it will stop any problem that may warrant its use.

I have 20 rounds of Black Talon 147gr 9mm. Sweet cartridges. I wish they still made them. The Ranger Talons are pretty amazing, but not quite as awesome as the Black Talons.

Smith&Wesson; Governor for a car or nightstand gun.

In response to the mention of the similar concept Taurus Judge, the .410 does not spread very much without some range. The PDX1 combination shot and slug .410 ammo makes more sense, I think.

I haven't found a .380 yet that I enjoy shooting and I have tried Beretta, Sig and a few others. They end up biting me and slashing my thumb knuckle with the slide when it recycles

Check out a Ruger SR22 pistol first.Very similar in looks and accuracy to the Walther P22.But,the Ruger will spit out anything you feed it.P22's are finicky. Ruger Sr22 pistol

If I got a concealed carry permit, I would carry a Glock 17 in 45 caliber. I am very accurate with that weapon. I would urge anyone who is considering getting a concealed carry permit to consider a couple of things. While small caliber handguns are easier to carry they don't have the required knock down you will find in a 45. They are also sometimes so small, accuracy suffers. If you are ever forced into a situation where you must shoot, you will be very nervious and your accuracy will suffer. Also if you are going to take the responsibility to carry a weapon, practice, practice, practice!

I like my 9mm. With some ammo Underwood offers, it opens up to nearly .82. Amazing! I totally agree with the practice. Nothing is more important

I would like a Hi-Point 9mm pistol, to go with my Hi-Point .45 ACP, mainly to fire my 9mm reloads, that my Glock 17 doesn't like. I would love to have 30 rd mags for the G17, but are not legal in my state.... dang !! Other pistols of interest: CZ-52, in 7.62 x 25, with a 9mm barrel, also.... I have never shot a .40 S & W.....

I had a Hi-Point carbine in .40 S&W. Great little rifle! The CZ52 is AMAZING. I love mine! I didn't know you could get a 9mm bbl. I will have to look into that. Seems like a .357sig would work well out of that platform as well! Thanks for the awesome response and barrel idea!

Anything in 7.62 x 25 is of interest.... heck of a round. When standing next to someone firing this round, the pressure wave pushes against you...1800fps stock... would love to try .30 sabots with this round...There are repro PPsH carbines in 7.62 x 25 available...and Xmas is approaching, lol. The FN 5.7 is interesting... I ordered some fired brass, just to check it out.... tiny round, could carry a lot, easily...

You know the ' If you can only have one gun ' scenerio ? I would leave my .45 ACP, .44 Mag, 12ga pump and .300 WM behind, and carry my Mossberg 802 Plinkster in .22 LR. For a pistol, my .22 BuickMark. Plus 1000 rounds of ammo. All I would need. Although a 106mm Recoilless Rifle would be nice, also...

    Also, I didn't care much for the .40 S&W, but I LOOOOOVE 10mm!
