Well think about it. They've queered the political debate so much in this Country, that you are branded a hater if you eat a chicken sandwich and waffle fries. So let's test this theory...see if it holds water or if they are just carrying the water for a gay agenda.

If you stand up for a certain "type" of marriage, you hate.
If you stand up for traditional marriage, you hate.
If you stand up for "gay marriage",....you hate?
Does the shoe fit? Is what's good for the goose, good for the gandor?
Will the question of Where's Waldo ever be answered?

Tune in next time, for the harrowing adventures of damnyoumaggotman!

Actually, there are a lot of people, both homosexual and heterosexual, that support gay marriage but have enough common decency to understand that not everyone has to have the same view.

Unfortunately, too few of them stand up against the bigoted, hateful heterophobes that give LGBT people a really bad name.

Of course not. I am a supporter of same sex marriage, and I am not a bigot, hater, or heterophobe. If I wanted the government to take away the right of heterosexuals to be married--in other words if I wanted the government to make a law outlawing opposite sex marriage, then I would be a bigot, hater, and heterophobe.

By the same token, the people who want the government to have laws outlawing same sex marriage are, in fact, bigots, haters, and homophobes.

There is a huge difference. You are in favor of preventing me from getting married. I am not trying to prevent you from getting married. If you don't understand the difference between those things, you shouldn't be debating.

You are asking for an exception to the rules for your particular sexual preference.

No I am not. We are talking about laws. There are several possibilities. (1) You could enact a law which would allow no one to get married. (2) You could enact a law which allows only same sex marriage. (3) You could enact a law which would allow only opposite sex marriage. Or (4) you could enact a law which allows same sex marriage and opposite sex marriage. I am for the latter option number 4, which would not impair the rights of any one. You appear to be for option number 3 which impairs my rights and the rights of other gay and lesbian people who wish to marry their partner.

Marriage is not a right. It is not granted by Government. I'm all for civil unions with benefits for life partners. I'm against you perverting my Covenant. I have no problem with gays...I do have a problem with a militant gay agenda that seeks to lessen the importance of Marriage. Thousands of years worth of History has preserved Marriage as a Union of Man and Woman...You know better than those before you?

Only one law applies, Law of Nature.

10 million years of evolution, driven entirely by heterosexual reproduction, with out one iota of contribution to the fitness of the species form homosexuality, has kept homo sapiens alive and well.

Bottom line, two roosters can't make a chicken and without procreation, there is no marriage. None of that homosexual pretend procreation, but honest to goodness heterosexual, productive coupling.

I am a lawyer, Sawdust. I earn my living dealing with the laws of people. The "Law of Nature" could be an interesting concept in the spiritual or philosophical realms, but it has nothing to do with the laws by which a free people govern themselves.

I hope you and your spouse never have relations when you are not trying to have children. I wouldn't want to think you were being hypocritical.

Now that is completely silly. You can only write laws because you operate with in the confines, boundries and limits established by the laws of nature.

Here is the hierarchy of law:

1.Natural law (laws of logic, physics, etc)

2.Commercial law (Universal commercial law, personnal property and securities act, trade treaties, international agreements, etc)

3.Common law/civil law (case law, tradition, jury decisions, etc)

4.Equity law (government statutes or acts, internal corporate regulations, etc)

And I don't care how good a lawyer you think you are, you can't change the Law of Nature and I hope you and your spouse never have relations when you ARE trying to have children. Leave that to the real people.

Marriage is defined by statute. Statutes are amended all the time. Of course, I am seeking to amend the law. I am seeking to have the government adopt my definition, just as you are seeking to have the government preserve the law in its current state.

It means you are trying to make the laws treat me differently and less favorably than you. Even if you don't "hate" me, that makes you a bigot. It is like the people in the 50s and 60s who required black people to drink out of "colored only" water fountains. They were bigots, even if they did not "hate" black people.

You can't compare someone who was born black with someone that chooses to have same sex. Sorry doesn't cut it.
I personally didn't do that to the blacks and so I won't take accountability for it.
I also didn't run the underground railroad, though I would have, so I can't take credit for that either.
I am a Christian and God says its wrong. I'll stand with God. I don't hate you and I'm not a bigot.
I wouldn't treat you any different from anyone else. But, I will fight for traditional marriage.

Marlow, your comment is absurd. If I were to suggest that the laws should be amended so that people of your ancestry are not allowed to marry, I would be a bigot. It is no different if you want to deprive me of my civil rights. I am not a "hater", nor am I "spewing hate" when I state the obvious.

What is the Enumeration of the "marriage right"?
  • Joanie damnyou... 2012/08/07 00:56:01
    Joanie
Marriage rights are created by statute. Under the law, marriage is a right for people who qualify to marry under the statute. If two people who qualify under the statute wish to get married, and the local government official refuses to issue them a marriage license, they can sue the local official in mandamus to force the issuance of a marriage license. So marriage is, in fact, a right.
