Well think about it. They've queered the political debate so much in this Country, that you are branded a hater if you eat a chicken sandwich and waffle fries. So let's test this theory...see if it holds water or if they are just carrying the water for a gay agenda.

If you stand up for a certain "type" of marriage, you hate.
If you stand up for traditional marriage, you hate.
If you stand up for "gay marriage",....you hate?
Does the shoe fit? Is what's good for the goose, good for the gandor?
Will the question of Where's Waldo ever be answered?

Tune in next time, for the harrowing adventures of damnyoumaggotman!

Actually, there are a lot of people, both homosexual and heterosexual, that support gay marriage but have enough common decency to understand that not everyone has to have the same view.

Unfortunately, too few of them stand up against the bigoted, hateful heterophobes that give LGBT people a really bad name.

Your premise that people "hate" because of their beliefs is a false one.

People "hate" because they have been taught to "hate". There is a progression to achieve that status.

It starts with basic prejudice, which is a LEARNED response from environmental social interaction with family, friends, workmates, religious associates etc, where in we absorb their likes and dislikes etc starting out as children.

Those LEARNED responses to the interactions graduate to "bigotry" when reinforced over time.

Once "bigotry" is fully ingrained the response to opposing points of view are immediate and irrevocable in the form of outrage and translate into "hatred" towards what ever it is that has offended you as a person with all the baggage one has attached to your personage.

The conditioned responses for those who do NOT support same sex "civil contracts of civil marriage" arise from extensive learned response behavior modification.

The conditioned responses of those who DO support same sex "civil contracts of civil marriage" arise from extensive education as to the real makeup of the human beings very broad range of physiological and psychological variability of human interactions.

So in each case it is a 'learned' response to external stimulus which creates the responses. The depth of the response is directly proportional to the depth of the learned material.

I think people need to stop and give serious though to what is happening in this world today. What is going on in it compared to many years ago. Is all of this good for now and the future? No we are dooming things for future generations if this type controversy continues and I don't see it stopping.

This honestly doesn't seem to make sense.
You see, if you stand up for a certain type of marriage and reject the other, then you're not supporting equality. By not supporting equality, you're basically saying that one party is better than the other, technically hating.
If you stand up for gay marriage you're supporting and promoting equality. Of course, if you support gay marriage but disapprove of heterosexual marriage then you're not supporting equality, which leads to what I said above.
You're not branded a hater if you eat a chicken sandwich and waffle fries. You're branded a hater if you fully support and agree with what the dude in Chick-a-Fil-A said.

...then call me a hater because I "fully support and agree with what the dude in Chick-a-Fil-A said"....

    This IS what he said:

"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.

"We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy emphasized.

"We intend to stay the course," he said. "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

If you think that's hate...you really have issues...

I never said I considered it hate. I just said that you were branded a hater if you fully supported and agreed with what he said. You asked a general question, I answered. BUT I never, not once, mentioned that I, personally, said it was hate or that I considered people haters, among such.

I have no problem with gays and relationships. Just call it something other than marriage. Civil relationship. They are looking for legalities and that is all. When partner is say,... dying they want to be included. Love for another human being is substantial loss no matter what your preference. It is not marriage and leave that alone.

The left is so full of hate that they assume that everyone who disagrees with them are full of hate also. They don't understand the concept of being able to have differing views without having hate in your heart for that person.

I suggest that they examine their own hearts first. I hate no one, not even my gay ex-husband!

This statement doesn't work in the reverse. It is bigoted to DENY someone marriage based on sexuality. All marriage between two consenting and non-related adults should be and will be LEGAL. Just wait for it- it's coming. All humans deserve the opportunity to get married and the benefits that coincide with it.

for religious reasons I don't support it... however I do agree that same-sex marriage will be legal very soon. I will get blasted for this, but it will happen either way... the next group wanting to be married will be those who have fallen in love with someone in their own family.

You had the most honest argument opposing same-sex marriage. You don't support same-sex marriage because of religious beliefs. Stop there. You ruin it with that nonsense about people wanting to marry relatives or animals.

it was not too long ago it was a news about such a thing actually happening, that's why I mention it. And not too long ago I had this same discussion with someone actually in this situation. Believe me, it was an odd conversation for me. My main argument was about birth defects and whatnot, to which I was heavily reminded people have sex outside of marriage, marriage is just union. Next came the statistics with birth defects among women who smoke or drink or don't eat properly and then more statistics in comparison to a child of incest. And finally came the argument of women having the right over their own bodies.

I was taken aback by all of this. We are all used to debating certain subjects, but this one was a new one for me. So yeah, it definitely exist. It's definitely a possibility. incest is very taboo.... so was homosexuality years and years and years ago.
  • Chris- ... ღ♥ღ ℒea... 2012/08/13 07:26:17
    Chris- Demon of the PHAET
The first problem with that argument is the assumption homosexuality, incest, and bestiality are equally bad or equally good.
The second problem is the assumption there is a legal reason to ban same-sex marriage as there is with the other two examples. (not moral but legal)
The third problem is one of simple logic. Using very extreme examples to support any argument means it is a weak argument to begin with.
