If the TEA Party was ever really a part of the Republican Party, I no longer believe that it is. It is a hard-core, radical, ultra-conservative off-shoot party that has polarized Republicans and usurped the GOP. Agree or disagree?

I think the TEA party has been taken over by the GOP.The RINOs saw a good thing and wanted it for themselves.
So now almost all Republicans claim to be TEA partiers without really knowing why, other than the liberals have nothing to do with it except for the fact that they demonize it constantly.

The GOP usurped the T.E.A. party. It was originally started to support Ron Paul in "07". As for polarized, not hardly. When Rand Paul walks up to Harry Reid and bitch slaps him, then it can be called polarized.Unless and until that scenario happens,it is just a 2 headed party working in conjunction with the intent of turning America into a global government,NWO to be exact!.

The GOP pandered to the wingnuts and allowed the teaparty to take them over. They have themselves to blame for what they have turned into. Moderate republicans have left the building.

LOL!!! I have a never had a problem saying anything to anyone in person or otherwise. As for those who founded this country....they gave me the right to say whatever I choose to, so in honor of them and my freedom of speech, I choose to say that you are by far one of the lamest teabagger idiots I have ever run across on SH and that's saying a lot. Congratulations Sparky!

Agreed--at least in part. I think Republicans are trying to re-assimilate the Tea Party to no avail. The Tea Party could best be understood as pissed off libertarians. Not 'pure' libertarians to be sure, but libertarian enough to make the comparison fair.

In my view, as someone who has been to several Tea Party events; the Tea Party was NEVER a part of the Republican party. Their values simply lined up more with the Republicans than the Democrats. That was the whole point. They WEREN'T republicans OR democrats. They were just pissed off Americans.

As far as their being "hard-core, radical, ultra-conservative", maybe that's just them getting more pissed off at a government which neither side is too concerned with anything other than pissing off "the other side".
