If the "N Word" is so bad and offensive, shouldn't African Americans stop using it so much?

Personally, I feel that African Americans should set the example by never using the "N Word" themselves.

Another Black post and a whiny person. Number one 42 million Black people don't use the word N*gger, so your question is moot. Do some use it? Yes and others don't.

In addition who gives a crap, say the word N*gger if you want to so badly. White people like you need to stop b*tching and crying over it. In addition I'm not an African American genius, that term is pertained to people who have recently come from Africa, which crosses racial lines.

Funny; I rather whine and cry about not saying the word N*gger, than having to face real discrimination.

    get over it

The double standard should be abolished. People protested for equality well now here it is. Everybody stop using the N word or everybody use it, Then it's equal.

But they won't. I don't like the word and I never use it but Ive come to accept that people will say what they want to, when they want to and theirs nothing I can do about it. So let them say it. Heck, let anyone say it. Who am I to tell anyone what to or not to do?

    Quite frankly ..
    the stunning double standard ..
using OFFENSIVE Terms .. by one group .. as 'acceptable' ..
and by another .. as 'ugh .. CREEPY prejudiced, hate-full' ..

is the crux of the problem here ..

If it is offensive to one .. it should be offensive for ALL to use that term .. period ..
and just not wear it, display it .. say it ..

Its a double standard. Maybe we should should strip them of their right to call us cracker or whatever word they consider derogatory for whites and make it taboo for them to use. Should go both ways.

That would never work.,there would be more blacks using the "cracker" (example word) word than ever before in history because they would be like... I will be damned if a white person can tell me what I can and can not say ...and hear we would be. On SH with the same queation just different word and their point of view would be the only right one again...

Well ya know what, I will also be damned if I will have a black person tell me what I can and not say as well. I never use the N word, personally it makes me feel uncomfortable but I am quite sick of these double standards and I think I just may start saying it just out of spite now...and to make a point, Im sure someone will punch me in the mouth for it but, but really I am so sick of this political correctness, I am done with it.

What they do is what they do. If they want this "word" to disappear, it would be helpful for no one to use it. In reality, some blacks wear it like a badge. It is almost as if there was a need for something to gripe about.

If black people or anyone else uses it on a daily basis, it does kind of tell you the mental capacity of the person using it. For example, would you consider your doctor is a top practitioner if he/she dropped "F-bombs" all the time? Would you think your pastor was a man of high character and integrity if he called everyone an @$$hole? Omit foul language, but use other "tells" such as...would you think your attorney was the smartest one in the courtroom if every sentence she uttered used the word 'like' at least five times? If people want to sound like idiots, they are free to do so - I especially don't like hearing crude language around small children, but this bunch doesn't see anything wrong with it. Again, in a word, IDIOT.

Its not the word itself that is offensive, it's how you use it. Like I can say "hey b*tch!" with a smile to my best friend and it's okay, but I say "hey b*tch!" to someone I've never met in an irritated tone then, yeah, it's offensive. I personally hate the "n" word, but I can't tell other people how to speak.

For the record, I did not use stars, I spelled the word out completely and SH edited it.

How can we ever seriously discuss the word if we can't even say the word?

You can say the word all you like. SH doesn't have to provide you a forum to do so. I thinking, why would you want to use the word in the first place?

Sometimes you just need to worry about yourself. Do you want to say it? Go ahead and say it. Now ask yourself, why would you want to use the word in the first place?
