If the Bible says To cleanse yourself from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit...What is filthiness of the flesh?

When I got saved I began to get convictions..Many people in church today that once had convictions don't no longer have convictions.They act and live like the world.You no longer can tell the world from the church.The church is worldly.They have forsaken the old time gospel way.Jesus is the same as he was when we went to the altar.If you were convicted of something when you got saved you better believe it is the same now and as real as it was as the night you went to the altar.Back when I got in church people had fosaken all and followed Jesus.They gave their bodies as a living sacrifice.They fasted and prayed and gave up the lust of the flesh and strived to mortify the DEEDS of the flesh.God didn't have to tell me to quit smoking my heart told me it was wrong.Jesus didn't have to tell me not to dress worldly or like a Jezebel,I didn't want to look like one.Because my heart desired the things of God.People believes the scriptures about grace and has forgotten it also says "Do we sin because grace abounds? GOD FORBID." I thank God for his Grace,If it wasn't for his Grace we would all have no choice but to go to everlasting darkness.But I feel like what we have inside will also shine on the outside.I realize we are not perfect yet. But how hard are you striving to be like him.The Bible says to come out from among the world and be a seperate people...From the way it looks to me the church is not seperated from the world.How would someone know you were a Christian if you were standing in a crowd?Many confess with their mouths but their hearts are far from Jesus.

THIS-EYE-KNOW: " You MUST ... 2009/07/14 23:10:57We should strive to be like Jesus and strive to walk as he walked

Here is what I want to do..........heal the sick, feed the poor, and share the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ with every ear that will hear. With grace and faith, the desire to steal, harm, hate, fight, judge, destroy, imprison, or kill becomes naturally distasteful to the spirit within. Jesus is the only one that can remove your sin, not you, no matter how hard you try. If you are of the flesh, and sin is of the flesh..........then you are sin. Can sin remove sin?
I am not argueing against moral example that we Christians must live by to be effective in sharing HIS message. That moral example is naturally given, through your spirit, when living in Christ. Can a sick man heal himself before he is admitted to the hospital? Or does he rely upon the physician to make him well?
Have faith in Jesus and the work completed on the cross, and you will walk as he walked, he is within you!
It is obvious you are serving him well, or actually he is doing great things through you! I also, am so grateful for the gift He has given me and want to live right as a result of my gratitude.
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Phi 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
I fall down, and get up, everyday. But I know I'm saved!
ph 2:19 Now therefore ye are NO MORE strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20 And ARE BUILT upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone;
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together, groweth to a HOLY TEMPLE in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are built together, for a habitation of God through the Spirit.
I know I am not what I want to be but yet I am not what I was.I feel like Gods people need to return to him in holiness and righeousness.
Heb 12:1 Wherefore, seeing we also are encompassed with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
pretty much covers it I can get more specific if neccesary
i totally agree with your opening statement.
Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.
