Question US

(+) If the 2008 presidential election had been a popular vote election allowing each of us to vote twice (once for and once against) who would you vote FOR if the following candidates were on the ballot? (Subtract votes against from votes for.)?

TechnoZeus April 24, 2008 18:08:51

This is the POSITIVE vote part of a two vote system poll. Be sure to also cast your negative vote ( http://www.sodahead.com/poll/78836/ ) if there is a candidate listed that you want NOT to see as president more than any of the others. Careful of rumors. Do your research.
You!

    Vote for John McCain

Mike Huckabee would be my first choice. I like his flat tax idea, and he has common sense! That is so lacking in most politicians. He is up of foreign policies and understands the economy. He is prolife and stands up for his convictions. I would vote for Johmn McCain because he was a better choice than the alternative, who unfortunately won.

Hi... I guess this poll still being "open" after the real election ended doesn't make much sense. Hehe. I thought Ihad set it to close. that's okay though... your comment is still welcome. Thanks. If you have looked at my other related polls, and my blogs, then you probably already know why your candidate never really had a chance. I don't know if I would have liked him to win or not, really, but we kept out the one that would have had us in a world war by now, so that's what matters... and yes, I'm talking about the same one that you voted for in here. He wasn't the one slandering Obama... but the people behind him were, and many people swallowed it hook line and sinker. Anyway, the opportunity to fix the broken system is now a real possibility... but if you want to see it happen within your lifetime, move quickly... before the next election comes along. I hope people can finally see past the propaganda and realize that they've been pawns in a game played by people with money and power... and that the rules of that game CAN be changed so that the pawns can finally make their own moves.

Thanks. Here are the results of this Dual-Vote poll so far...

    34 Net Votes for Barack Obama (54 - 20 = 34)

    5 Votes for Ron Paul

2 write-in votes for Fred Thompson

    2 Net Votes for Kat Swift (3 - 1 = 2)

1 write-in vote for Joe Biden

1 write-in vote for Mitt Romney

    1 Net Vote for Mary Ruwart (2 - 1 = 1)

    1 Vote for Ralph Nader

    0 Net Votes for or against Mike Huckabee (2 - 2 = 0)

1 vote AGAINST All of the above

    1 Vote AGAINST Alan Keyes

    2 Net Votes AGAINST Hillary Rodham Clinton (27 - 29 = -2)

    27 Net Votes AGAINST John McCain (5 - 32 = -27)

    ---

That puts Barack Obama in first place, and Ron Paul in second. Of course, Ron Paul isn't running for President anymore in the real election, but this should give some idea what difference a negative vote option could make in the future or could have made in this election.

    Vote for Barack Obama

Obama tries to bring the country together while Hillary encourages her supporters to divide it. Now I understand why Obama got more delegates, super delegates and popular vote despite Hillary's name recognition. Obama is better for the country.

She's been crumbling under pressure... that's half the problem.

You also should try re-counting because there ARE more than three candidates!

At this point, I would pick John McCain over Hillary... but that's a real shame though because John McCain wants to continue what George W. Bush started and we don't need that. Still, as much as I would like to see the war we shouldn't have started come to an end, I would rather have that war continue than for our country to wipe out all of humankind.

That in mind, I'll be writing in Barack Obama if he's not on the ballot.

I would vote for Hillary...and against Obama.

I guess I'm confused by the poll...wondering what it is going to prove. I would like to see an example of a runoff vote where you vote your 1st and 2nd preference.
  • TechnoZeus Czar Sa... May 04, 2008 00:22:48
    TechnoZeus
I could implement a runoff vote in here, actually, and have thought about how... but it would be much more complicated than this dual-vote system and no more effective. I've done the math, more than 2 decades ago... and written simulations and taken opinion polls since then... and have gotten over 3000 signatures on a petition to get negative votes as an option in elections... and moved to Washington DC to try to do something about it, but I couldn't get in to see a single representative because the people running their offices couldn't understand the difference between a vote against a candidate and a vote "for the OTHER candidate" ... because they had gotten to accustomed to the false idea that we have a two party system.

Hi again, Sativa. Really, I doubt it is possible for your "faith" in her to be any stronger since it already looks like a blind "cult following" without reason and with no realization of just what it is that you have put your faith in. Anyway, thanks for the vote in my poll.

Nameless I think that's the best comment i've read on this site.

Many people don't understand or don't care to know that those are VERY WRONG REASONS to vote a person in office.

Republicans love playing off our fears. " If we don't stay the course in Iraq we'll be fighting the war on American turf "

Then all the CHICKENS of America run to the polls to vote for them.
We can't continue to be forced to live in fear by these people.

Are we the HOME OF THE BRAVE OR NOT?

    Lastly it's (( 2008 ))

Noone should be voting out of hate (( PERIOD! ))
