If Supreme Court Rules Against Obamacare, Many Benefits Would ‘Cease to Exist'?

~ The Rebel ~ 2012/06/11 18:58:58
At a town hall-style meeting at the White House on Thursday, Obama administration officials touted the benefits for women’s health afforded by the Affordable Care Act – benefits Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said would “cease to exist” if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns the law.

“Much of what we’ve described here today would cease to exist,” Sebelius said to a gathering of mostly female supporters and journalists. “Young adults on their parents’ plan would no longer be the law.

The event was staged to give Sebelius and other Obama administration officials, including senior advisor Valerie Jarrett, the opportunity to showcase the benefits already in place since President Barack Obama signed the bill into law in 2010, including allowing children up to age 26 to stay on their parents’ health insurance plan.

    1. Once you reach the age of majority .. time to take on your FULL Adult responsibilities .. including the RESPONSIBILITY to provide for your own needs (in other words .. pay your own HEALTH Insurance Premiums, co-pays/deductibles .. excess charges .. etc .. just as I DID all along.
    2. IT would be a RELIEF .. to NOT have the increases in Premiums (which were NINE Times per Child between 18 and 26 my own premium PER MONTH to add them onto my insurance plan .. it would be FAR CHEAPER for them as Adults to pay their OWN) .. then there was increases in Co-pays/deductibles .. more denials .. and oh, my .. more providers dropping out of the networks so you have to drive FURTHER (if there is anyone at all available) to obtain care ..
    3. Women's Health? Seriously .. as a WOMAN Myself .. it is MY Responsibility to ensure I take on the responsibility for this .. I paid my own bills, deductibles, co pays .. paid my own insurance .. paid for my needs .. (including Birth Control) ..
    4. Oh, my .. so why then .. Ms. Sebilius .. are you STEALING from FICA, VA, and the Military Health Care Programs .. (and increasing the costs of those participating in these that they've paid into in the first place .. denying even more services) .. to 'fund' this horrible 'law'?

Hopefully ..we will be RID of the BURDEN of this abomination soon ..
should have first started with TORT Reform .. if they were truly interested in reigning in Health Care costs ..

    Works for me.
End the whole debacle and start again from scratch.
This time everyone needs a voice, Not just Liberals, NOT behind closed doors, and I would like to see the bill BEFORE it passes.

In my day (said the old geezer) people were expected to be responsible for their own welfare/actions by age 21, if not before then. I see no need for extending coverage to 26-year-olds.

Also, abortion/birth control (the key issues of the 0bama regime are NOT and NEVER WILL BE healthcare issues.

    Here's the plan....

They are touting the Obammiecare debacle so when the Court tosses the WHOLE thing they think these folks will rise up and force the supreme court to overturn thier decision..

That's why they are SUPREME... once a decision is reached...that's it.

Too bad commie asshats...it's over .

Of course many people would be unhappy. First of all, the insurance companies who added all those below 26 to their rolls. ( 6.6 million) Those parents will either have to pay for adding their young adults or drop them. Neither is a good choice for parents or the insurance companies. The uninsured rate for people ages 18- to 25 has continued to decline under ACA, from 28% to 23% .( Gallup Poll)

Second, senior with high prescription costs will take a hit to about $600. There goes the Medicare donut gap. Drug makers would hike the drug costs , so many seniors would be caught flatfooted.

There would go preventive care with no co payment.

As of 2014, insurance companies can no longer deny peope who have existing health problems. That would go.

The truth is many people would be happy if the Supremes overturn the whole thing, while others would have to dig much deeper in their pockets. Then we will be back to where we before... having the best medical care in the world but more than half the populace cannot afford it.

Young adults on their parents’ plan would no longer be the law. 26 years olds, they need to be on their own, not on their parents insurance. Why should the parents company be pentalized and pick up the more expensive Insurance Tab.

I see this as a very positive outcome from it being overturned.

What benefits? health care will just get worse! Only the poor will benefit and that isn't saying much because I am poor and get health care through the government and it sucks. they only care about how much money they get not your welfare or health.

IF the ACA is stuck down, new laws can be written to improve health care in the US, and will hopefully not be written in as poor a manner, or passed in as corrupt fashion as the ACA.

Scare tactics? Ridiculous comment. The healthcare reforms included many benefits for Americans and if it isn't accepted there won't be those benefits - that's reality!
