If, as a student, you came home with a straight-A report card, or even a B or B+, would your parents say "You didn't do that"?

wicked soda boy 2012/07/19 21:11:59
By recent "Obama-logic", based on last week's controversial speech, your parents would say "You didn't do that - the teachers and the people who built the school building did it." Oh, and of course the road-builders.

While, of course there's an element of truth involved in the sense that a person doesn't acheive success in a vacuum...STILL, what a warped message that would be to send to someone who has worked hard, and acheived something, to say "You didn't do that"!

What say you, Soda-Heads out there?
You!

Well of course YOU didn't do it. The govt. taxpayer-funded, glorified baby-sitter parading as an 'educator who is actually an indoctrination specialist, wrote it.

Nope. My parents would give encouragement for a better grade and tell me that I did a good job - you earned that grade.

No need for that tone, neither of my parents are as intelligent as I am, and they would never had got as high grades as I do. Same with my grandparents and great grandparents, so it clearly didn't come from there.

Lets rake Romneys school record as an example:

He was a wealthy kid from an elitist family that could afford the best private tutors and private schools and universities and his fathers money and influence was used by Romney to start Bain capital.

So did he do it himself ?

no, his parents enabled him to get a good education...however, if he had been a public school student, he would probably have turned out just as smart..either you have it, or you don't. either you have the drive, or you don't,. either you want to become the best you can be, or you don't..Take your pick. He was fortunate to have parents who sent him to a school where he learned, instead of wasted the taxpayers money ..and sat there like a vegetable in the classroom. You make it sound like a crime to be rich, and to be able to afford the best for your kid...who wouldn't want that? You sound jealous.

Romney made his own life. just like you've made yours, and i've made mine. Maybe you're thankful to government for yours, but it had nothing what so ever to do with mine...Romney is a politician...he's worked towards it, been successful, and deserves acknowledgement of it....not to be bowing down to government, or anyone else for his success.

no Romney made his own life....sorry you are so jealous of the blessed people who happen to have had the resources to put him through school when he was a child...He earned his own grades, he didn't buy them with money...He worked as a successful businessman, he didn't have what he created handed to him...You are one jealous, selfish person if you think he bought his life.

Apparently his parents bought him a substitute student to make his grades for him, much like Bush beating the slightly stupider french looking John F'n Kash N Kerry the left's favorite traitor, but poor Kerry didn't have a wife's money to "buy" his own grades.....JF Kash N Karry too stupid to get there on his own "with the help of the roads we built".

"Obama Top Bundler Ran Bain Capital During GST Steel Layoffs
The Obama campaign has been blaming Mitt Romney for the failure of the GST Steel Company in 2001, conveniently ignoring the fact that Mitt Romney left Bain Capital, which had taken over GST, in 1999. This in itself is a dishonest attack, which will surprise no one, but it gets even more egregious when coupled with this salient fact: one of Barack Obama’s top bundlers, Jonathan Lavine, managing director at Bain, who has bundled between $100,000 and $200,000 in contributions for the 2012 Obama Victory Fund, was one of the guys running Bain when GST went belly-up...."

Gee apparently he didn't do everything at Bain without help "either"

And they would be right. "I" didn't do that. The fact that I had parents who loved and cared for me helped me do that. The fact that I have friends that don't push sex, drugs or alcohol on me helped me do that. The fact that my teachers watch out for me and help me stay out of bad influences helped me do that.

Yes I started the process by WANTING to do that, but I am blessed and praise the Lord everyday that I have been privileged enough to stay on that path without many of the circumstances of dysfunctional families, abuse, disease or hunger that plague many in my school.

I wonder if Obama remembered the story on the girl who was ridiculed in front of class with a dummy award....the "teacher" put so much time and energy into making! and there are alot of her kind 'teaching'? our kids?

Well God bless those teachers'.....Obama sits in the corner counting how many votes that will get him....

Actually, I think you're referring to the "Catastrophy Award", which I thought seemed in good humor, and I think the mom was hoping to be "bought-off" by the school, or receive a court award. I think the mom tried to claim "victimhood" for her daughter, which was way overblown. That IS the one you were talking about, yes?
I believe Obama's administration encourages this kind of thinking. Everyone's a victim of some kind, and we all need to hire attorneys and seek compensation. Not!

As usual the right takes things out of context. As the President of the United States, I don't think he would want anyone taking that accomplishment from him. But there is not a person on this earth who has not had a helping hand from someone at sometime. It does not mean you should not be proud of your accomplishments and strive to be the best that you can be, but there is nothing wrong with helping others along the way and realizing that you did not get where you are in a vacuum. There are a great many things that help us to reach our goals along the way. Of course some of us are more talented than others and some will reach greater heights of success. That does not mean that others are not working hard. And a lot of times those people doing the hard work behind the scenes make the successes of others possible. We should value all hard work and understand that many times the hardest jobs being done are the ones you never hear about. In order to bring this economy back we have to realize the value of all work and not just the few that manage to make it into the millionaire club. We all want a chance to succeed, but being humble enough realize that you did not rise to success in a vacuum is hardly something to criticize.
