This is a perfect, perfect example of the necessity for TERM LIMITS. And for the necessity to clean house -- literally, House and Senate -- and get rid of the power wielders who seem to have lost sight of the very reason they are supposed to be in Washington and what their job(s) ought to be.
I lived with or near a man all of my life -- my father -- who lived and breathed honesty, integrity, character, patriotism and heroism all of his life, from the time he was 16 years old and assumed his brother's identity and joined the Army. I watched a man grow powerful -- yes, powerful, and you can check the historical documentation for that statement -- and who could have anything and everything he ever wanted handed to him on a silver platter with no questions asked, even the power of life over death in many instances, and not one single time did he ever abuse that power. Never. I should be the beneficiary of a bil...
Never. I should be the beneficiary of a billionaire's estate and not stuck barely eking out a living on social security and the occasional pittance from work. But my father left an extremely modest estate for my brother and I and the grandkids to split and, believe me, it certainly didn't amount to very much at all. Long gone, matter of fact, and no fancy mansion or automobiles to show for it either.
And then I see people like William Horny Clinton entering what I considered to be the most prestigious office in the entire world and he not only can't keep his pants zipped for four lousy years (or eight) but he has to get up on national television and wag his stupid finger in my face and deny he "ever had sex with that woman." Which, of course, he later owned up to. Totally disrespected the Office of the President of the United States of America, in my opinion. Period.
And then Harry Reid. Stooping to the most childish, ridiculous tactic of spreading rumors to smear Mitt Romney. "Word has it" Romney hasn't paid taxes in ten years? Hello? How assinine. I couldn't believe my ears. And then he repeated it for effect. Good grief. And he does this knowing full well that a significant number of his democratic buddies up there on Capitol Hill, who happen to hold some pretty powerful jobs themselves, have major back-taxes issues. "So have him show us his tax returns and prove he's paid them."
Romney does not have to produce his tax returns for the American public to find out whether or not he's paid his taxes for the past ten years, Reid, you dumbass idiot. Just ask the IRS, "Does Mitt Romney have an outstanding back-taxes account?" Duh. Romney doesn't have to prove crap, you miserable ball of ineptitude. When are you going to pass a budget, sir? Too busy ginning up ridiculous schemes to try and get your worthless president reelected? I've got an idea. How about you prove how many hours you've spent on taxpayers' business versus Obama reelection business and let's deduct some of your pay for not doing what you were hired to do. How about that, sir? Let's tackle the approximately 30 bills that have passed the House but which you pigeon-holed and refuse to entertain on the floor of the Senate. Hmmm?
I love my country with all my heart and soul. But I am embarrassed by what we have representing her today. Totally inadequate and in need of decontamination immediately.
Tom Daschle was forced to abandon his bid to be secretary of health and human services after revelations that he had failed to pay taxes on the use of a chauffeur. Obama's choice to be the country's chief performance officer, Nancy Killefer, withdrew because of a failure to pay a small amount of employment taxes.
And Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was confirmed after acknowledging that he had paid more than $40,000 in back employment taxes and interest only after being chosen to lead the department.
Charles Rangel-including [Rangel's] failure to pay taxes on rental income from a villa in the Dominican Republic or to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets on financial disclosure forms.
– Labor Secretary nominee Hilda Solis became the latest Cabinet nominee to face questions about unpaid taxes Thursday as a Senate panel abruptly postponed a scheduled vote on her confirmation. The postponement came after revelations that Solis’ husband settled tax liens on his
