Iceland Bans Strip Clubs: Should Strip Clubs Be Banned Everywhere?

Lana 2010/03/26 23:00:20
Yes, this law should replicated in other countries. Strip clubs should be banned.
No, strip clubs should not be banned. it is a buisness and does not pose a threat to anyone.
I think strip clubs....
You!

Iceland has just passed a law that prohibits any business from making a profit on the nudity of its employees.
The country is quickly becoming an example on how to rid a nation of the sex industry. The law was passed with no objection and will quickly eradicate any strip clubs holding on within the country (can't be that many with a 320,000 population).
Stip club owners are, not surprisingly, furious about the decision and plan on protesting it. The law could spell death for the sex industry in Iceland. But is this an example that other countries should follow? Should strip clubs be banned everywhere?

I actually view "nude dancing" as artistic expression. I used to go to strip clubs and the dancers where actually very good, despite the nudity.

I actually took a couple of the women out and had really good conversations with them, they where intelligent and bright and knew exactly what they wanted out of life.

I don't view the women as "victims" as much as "opportunists", seizing an opportunity to make a lot of money in a short period of time, the guys who visit are also willing participants and are not forced to spend their money there.

Note: I know there are many "sad" stories that can be told about women in that profession, but, I ask you to pick out a single profession where women are immune to those issues.

    1. It leads people into sin. 2. It is a wasteful use of money. 3. It causes problems in families. 4. Women are worth much more than to expose their bodies in such a way. 5. A woman's naked body is meant to be seen by a husband.

    1) Did the bible say that watch porn is a sin? 2) Well then so are movie theaters, the internet, and many other things as they provide entertainment. 3) The person in the family, most likely the father, would probably have gone out and found him/herself somebody to fool around with. At least with a stripper there are no strings attached. 4) People are worth what they make themselves worth. Just because people were born with certain parts doesn't make them "worth" anything. 5) Well seeing as how philsophical u are getting I will say that she is ment to be seen as she wants to be seen. By her true or by the public. Her choice.

Yes, much of the entertainment in the world is ungodly. That is why I own no TV. I don't consider all entertainment to be ungodly. I rely on the Spirit to tell me what I should and should not do. Considering what the father probably would have done, probably is not definitely and just because things are already bad does not mean that we should make them more readily available to people. I do realize that this world is currently ruled in many ways by man so things will continue in many ways to be harmful to people's souls and relationships with each other. Yes, God did give her free will. No philosophy here- all Spiritual Truth.

U sound very much like a protestant. Why would God want your life to not be filled with entertainment? As for the Spirit thing. Really? So u wait for a sign and then do what it tells u what to do? I'm not religious at all but doesn't the Bible say that man has free will? And if man does then wouldn't u waiting for a sign just make free will pointless? The ten commandments are the rules that God gave man kind, supposedly, and no where does it say that strip clubs are a sin. Ten commandments are pretty straight foward too so implication does not count.

Protestant and Catholic are labels. I am simply a Christian. If that, too, is a label, fine, but I am Christian and I believe the Bible. The Holy Spirit in me does just as Scripture says: He leads me and guides me into all Truth and righteousness. His Spirit leading me as to what to do is not a sign. It is a Voice with the Power to help me obey It. I love It. It gives me peace. It is not much different than a child who has free will listening to the voice of its parent to obey. The main difference is that THE Father is the GREAT Voice of Authority. Have a great day.

I have limited time at the library so I appear to have missed one of the questions. Entertainment is fine as long as it does not harm other people. Please look back at my previous comment and you will find that I answered all of the questions in that comment besides one, which question I have now answered as well. When the Holy Spirit speaks to me. It is into an implication; it is Truth. Jesus said that the Spirit would lead Believers into all Truth and righteousness. He did not say that everything would be written in the Bible. Although some Christians may not agree, Jesus Himself said so. The Bible also says that a spiritual man will understand the things of the Spirit and that the natural man cannot. This is why people who have not been born again of the Spirit cannot understand and therefore they get angry and debate- yes, even many nominal Christians. "Enter in at the strait gate for strait is the gate and narrow is the way and few there are who find it." Again, have a nice day.

shouldn't be banned. I'd personally would love to go to one - with stripping women rather than men - at least to see what it's like. And I'm a straight, female to boot! =)

They strip not prostitute. There's beauty to the human body. If you are uncomfortable with it then don't go, but if people want to strip then let them. It's a business venture that makes money and the government should stay out of it. It's when they make 'vices' illegal that they generally become a huge problem.

People who don't have decent morals are the ones who keep these places in business. It's the 'vices' that keep them going. If it's a business venture, as you called it, then prostitution should be legal too. It's all selling the human body. You want to strip, go home and do it for your significant other.... Don't make these sort of places something our children have to have in their society as they grow up, learning (hopefully) decent morality.

Ummm... how are you going to tell someone to get therapy when you have back-to-back answers that contradict themselves? Split personality much. Or did you catch your husband on the internet admitting that he doesn't mind the occasional trip to the nudie bar?

Hey My girlfriend and my sister dragged me to a male review once yeah I was like yuck i don't want man junk in my face but all in all we enjoyed a night out on the town whomever thinks that strip clubs are just about what's going on on the stage are very closed minded (besides MY girl topped the night of by giving me some great sex once we got home..)
Have your boyfriend/husband take you to one you will end up having a great time.

It's funny but he really has no interest in going. I'm way more interested than he is. I am trying to get a group of friends to go and if I manage that then I'm sure I can drag him too. My circle of friends is totally backwards - it's us women interested in the strip clubs and the guys could not care less. I'm glad you had fun (before and after)! Lol!

That's your opinion. And you are entitled to it. As hate-filled and judgemental as it may be. But let me ask you..... What's the difference between a woman who has sex with a man for free and one that recieves money for it? If I buy a woman dinner and we have a one night stand, can that not also be seen by someone as recieveing "goods for services rendered"?

The point I'm trying to make is objectivity. If the people employed in such businesses and the people patronizing them don't mind, then why should you? I could understand you having an issue in certain single mothers started picking up their kids from soccer practice in G-strings or something, but for the dancers I've known, they have more tact than that.
  • Aktaar Rico (oYo) 2010/03/28 14:40:23

    Your question:

If I buy a woman dinner and we have a one night stand, can that not also be seen by someone as recieveing "goods for services rendered"?

You have zero respect for women, the mere comparison of a one night stand compared to a "goods for services" remark is just ludicrous. And yes I will judge you because people can see exactly what your like from the questions and answers you give.

For the person who gave you such a hate filled judgemental reply .... I DONT blame them!

How is that statement ludicrous? It was a genuinely valid question.

If I buy a woman dinner and we have sex, it's still consensual, it's still between two aduls and she still ends up with a free meal. Now If I pay a woman, and she uses that money to buy food after we've had sex how is that technically different? The answer, it's not.

The difference comes in to a person's individual values on what they BELIEVE is morally correct. the fault arises in the person's perception of the act.

Also... if all you got from my response was that I have "zero respect for women", then you're judgement of me is not even an issue. You believe what you want, as is your right. I love women, and am stilled odd by their complexities. I believe the female form is the most beautiful and fascinating creation God could ever muster. And for all those strippers and so-called "whores" as the poster of which my response was aimed at stated..... I'm not any of their daddies...... so who am I to presume I can tell them what to do with their lives and bodies?
  • Aktaar Rico (oYo) 2010/03/28 15:27:31
    Aktaar
It may not be different but the way you phrased it is as if she was a takeaway meal at a local fast food store or she was a hungry prostitute.

If you so called "love women" then you would have the guts to tell them that stripping is demeaning and they should consider another line of work because you actually give a damn.

Instead it sounds like your fear of intervening is making you "step back and dismiss" the issue. See I WILL intervene if I see someone going through something that is demeaning, I don't care how much they hate hearing it.

At least if they hate me for it I cant say that I did not react and try to open their minds because in the end they cut their own logic of to me.
  • Rico (oYo) Aktaar 2010/03/31 13:21:00 (edited)
    Rico (oYo)
But again.... the issue is not from the action, but from the moral perception of it. Kind of like, the difference between art and smut. I personally don't mind the action, so to me, there is nothing wrong with exotic dancing.

You feel differently than I do, so you feel it is that these women chose a poor life path. Again, neither of is worng, we just have different views.

And, I don't feel any animosity towards you, but I do think it is unfair to think that my view that a woman who is confident enough in her sexuality to dance topless and nude and not judge her, but to celebrate it, is wrong.
