Don't you understand that the condition of our Country right now reflects generations of superficial Americans only concerned with doing all the above you just described? Duties and responsibilities come with maintaining a Republic. Our Founding Fathers understood this and paid a great price for the freedom later generations have just taken for granted, pursuing pleasure, greedily watching out only for themselves, and apathetic about community affairs, voting and elections. It is only now when your affluent way of life expereiences a disruption, that you begin to wake up and see what has been creeping up on America all along? And now when the alarm bells are sounding, they only thing you can think to do is sit and reminisce about the good old days?

I can be tired of what is being crammed down my throat against my will; a rape of the values of our once great America..if you do like it..get a life..we didn't ask for this country to fall apart..we didn't ask for a President who hasn't a clue what he is doing; we didn't ask for our jobs to be shipped to China and Mexico...

And if you want to be an Atheist and a supporter of Gay rights; it's your business..but I don't have to like it; I don't want it....but I was talking about the America that I grew up in; you know; where there were jobs; where people trusted people; where crime wasn't rampant, where Abortions weren't used for birth control; where a Hot Dog and a Coke were 50 cents; gas was .15 cents a gallon; the Yankees had Mickey Mantle; and JFK was the President; a good man that was a Democrat; and appreciated our country and we all did back then...

But if you want what you have now; enjoy.....why I have no idea...

"We want protection of the borders and our country"- then pick up a gun and stand a post.

"let the blue collar Joes survive"- without what you rail against you would have none of what you seek, history proves blue collar Joe's do not have what it takes to make a nation work.

It isn't the laborer that built this nation, it was the men who hired their willing hands and able backs. Hard work doesn't equate to productivity which allows a nation to prosper, as we are seeing currently. Laborers are working "harder" than ever before with less to show for it, specifically because they are not what makes a nation prosperous.

you can have all the money in the world; but if the worker is either not there; or unwilling to work........not much good is it...

Those who do for themselves do not rely on the labor of others. While I understand manual labor is necessary it is nothing to be commended, and surely nothing to be held to a high standard. The laborer of my lifetime essentially did no more than replace the slave, and the slave replaced the ox or the horse. Your notion of the laborer being the builder of this nation, is just as silly as the fertilizer being responsible for the food you eat.

I'm 24 year old, tax paying citizen. I worked full time to pay for my own schooling with cash out of my own pocket. No loans, no handouts, just blood sweat and tears. I work a full time job and have been out on my own for years now.

All I want is to work and spend time with my loved ones and be happy. I don't want the government telling me what I can and can't eat, can and can't watch, can and can't own. I want to not have to constantly be bombarded with extremist beliefs from both the left and the right. Hell I don't even watch cable outside of football season anymore, ESPECIALLY during election season.

The state of the nation is so frightening to me that I'm honestly afraid to start a family any time soon because of the direction I see things heading and I'm honestly jealous of the generations before mine because me and my children will never see the good old days.

I understand, but that doesn't have a chance of becoming a reality if we don't reach down deep, and find a bit of what those before us had.
