I just want you to know...if you are involved in the SH political debate I understand you. Just please don't personally insult the opposition.

Jack's Pearl 2012/06/28 17:13:25
It get's us no where. We can't converse and learn from each other with insults flying around. I know sometimes our own politicians resort to that, but it's BS. Nothing to learn from or make things better.

Say what you wish....
You!

............yes, I agree, but We also need to get rid of unintelligent and uninformed individuals, third party persons that don't even care about the thought provoking questions All of Us seek input from......... I have Select Soda Head Friends that I only post on, this may be different than most here, but I do get annoyed at the graphically profane photos & video, ruining the sensible trend of thought for the most part.......... freedom of speech should always be allowed, but vulgarity to make a non contribution to sensible posting should be respected also, " ....... that's the traditional way I was raised in my growing up Family " ......... Let Patriotism Always Be Respected Here, and offline as well........ Traditional Human Values

No, I believe in freedom of speech and freedom in general, so even if I don't like what somebody says to me, I respect their right and FREEDOM to say it, and I do not try to control them.

There is nothing stated here about controlling speech. But we can try to improve attitudes and the way we treat each other. There is nothing wrong with that what so ever. You threaten someone you go to jail. But I won't call that taking FREEDOM of speech away. It's about treating others right. Not being a complete a-hole.

The fallacy you present is part of the problem. I am often accused of insulting people by pointing out their ignorance and stating as it is ignorant. The accurate use of language is all but lost in America and the world. It comes down to a simple truth, no one can insult you unless you let them. You and I have had the same issues with your promotion of ignorant propaganda on sun screen use. When you have no control population to measure results against, you cannot make claims that a product reduces risk, because you have nothing to base those facts on.

I'm not talking about making points. Stating what you think is fact. I AM talking about outright name calling and bullying on here over politics. That's a waste of time.

You know, somebody just said I had no brains, and I told them I thought they were the one with no brains. The whole exchange means less than nothing to me because the persons' opinion means nothing to me. If I think they are an idiot, why should I care?

I have gone to political forums for years, and they are always like this. The odds of it ever changing are slim to none.

My question is, if it bothers you, why don't you just ignore that section?

Trying to censor people is never going to work, they will say what they want to say. Unless it is against TOS, they can say it.

Ignorance is a statement of fact, not an insult. Although the ignorant, like you, do not understand the point. When you allow yourself to be offended in any conversation you allow yourself to be unintelligent.

no, if pearl is stating to remember that the person you are talking to is not the candidate in debate himself, then dont insult their outlook, do the best you possibly can to insult and discredit the opposition while attempting to disseminate information and truth on behalf of your own knowledge

Agree, but many will pass this post up, because they come here to fight and argue over silly things. Reasoning might seem as coming off as weak for many here. People don't want to learn, they just want to get their point across(because their views and beliefs are right), and want others to agree with their views or get insulted.

I don't come to fight and argue, I look to persuade the American public to have a better understanding of the facts, I dont truly intend to disrespect others, however sometimes I do, because having looked up the facts and being able to provide them for others who refuse to view them and acknowledge them, but would rather dismiss them as fallacies, and malicious lies it sometimes becomes difficult to treat peoples opinions like they are relevant. When someone refuses to look up the facts on something they are only opinionated on makes their opinion irrelevant. It is foolish to refuse the information of facts, and wish to attempt intelligent conversation with someone. I find that a direct insult to that person, and therefore will tell them that they are plain out stupid, and should go educate themselves.
