Been there a few times and have friends there. I was lucky enough to be there during one of the worst snow storms ever. Was also there within 24 hours of 9/11. On my way to another country and when got there, it was like WTH happened to New York?
I have many friends in New York, State.so I don't hate New York. The city of New York is a different matter. NO urge to EVER go there and I feel bad for them that they have such an idiot in charge!!! Bloomberg needs to go.
New YOrk is a product of it's own hubris. They refuse to see the failures in their own lives but continue to impose limitations on others. Just the fact that they keep reelecting long time crook Rangel is symptomatic of their tunnelvision.
Differentiate between the city and the state. The state is pretty decent even though the taxes suck. That's probably because the city sucks up so much in welfare and other "social" programs. Maybe it should be its own state. I'm sure New Jersey doesn't want it.

there are nice folks everywhere.. and likely you are right.. the reality for me.. is that folks up in the city.. so many just think they are so much better than anyone who lives in fly over country
