I Don't Need My President to Be Angry -- Just Effective

On the terrible killings at Fort Hood -- may all the victims rest in peace, and God help their families -- Victor Davis Hanson writes:
Yes, what if President Obama had done that? I fail to see how a more visceral display of emotion would've accomplished anything. Given the choice between a president who is "too emotional" or "too cool and calculating" I'll take the latter any day -- the POTUS is the most powerful man on earth, and if he is wont to act based on his emotions, rather than restraining them, we're all going to be worse off for it. It seems that Mr. Hanson is looking for emotional succor more than for sound policy decisions, whereas I'd rather be under the leadership of Michael Corleone than Sonny.
Of course, as facts emerge, all evidence is pointing to the fact that the shooter at Fort Hood was a radical Islamist. So when President Obama next speaks on this matter, he should coolly, collectedly acknowledge as much, and explain what measures are being taken to prevent a repeat of this tragedy.
In his reaction to the horror at Fort Hood, Obama, in detached fashion, urged Americans not to rush to judgment about the motives of the killer Major Nidal Malik Hasan—despite immediate reports that Hasan had screamed out “Allahu Akabar,” as well as been known to post on the Internet inflammatory anti-American, and radical Islamic messages. Each day more incriminating information is released about a clear past record of inflammatory hate speech directed at the U.S. military.
What if the President had said something quite different?—something a little bit more angry like, “All Americans have had it with these mass murderers, whether formal terrorist plotters or individual assassins. I promise you we will find out what motivates a Major Hasan—and do my best to ensure that there are no more Major Hasans in our future.”

I didn't listen to Mr. Obama's speech yesterday. I heard all I needed to hear from him on the first day. Rather than delay his remarks to the Indian group, knowing that Americans were tuning in to hear some comfort and resolve from their president, he gave a light-hearted (and incorrect) "shout out" to one of the attendees and didn't touch on the Ft. Hood issue until a good 2-3 minutes into the speech, and at that time his remarks were somewhat less than inspiring and comforting. Sorry, but I'm not biting.View thread

Firstly, I'd want Hasan to be moved to the White House. I'd want him to have the best healthcare so that we can get him back on his feet as fast as possible. I'd bring him before the highest military court in the land and execute a proper tribunal and investigation, at which time I'd request a charge of treason and a sentence of execution.
Upon grant of a sentence I'd have former Major Hasan brought out to the White House rose garden where I would view his sentence being carried out. I'd immediately follow it with a press conference where I'd very simply say:
"My fellow Americans, a great crime was perpetrated upon our country by an individual with treasonous intent. He lies executed before you. This is the penalty for all who would seek to subdue our nation."
Instead we get the opposite. Corny public photo ops and sound bites to illustrate his compassion for military families and fallen heros, when he needs their support most. And bratty rants about American people who challenge the efficacy of his plans to overhaul our healthcare system and save the economy (which no longer needs to be saved, since Obama has already hung his own "mission accomplished" banners).
Next week you can expect to hear no such statement regarding Hasan. I predict sweeping platitudes about America's multi-cultural landscape, racial/religious "tolerance", and a couple sprinklings of Hasan's name so it seems more like one crazy man's mentally instability that lead to this heinous attack.
