I don't love my country, because I'm an Atheist

To my knowledge, though not outwardly obvious an Atheist can't be president. Of course you could lie, but let's just say it wouldn't be the best thing to do in your position. I don't believe I'm thinking of becoming president, but it's just a general anger. What happen to freeedom of religion and all the crap American is suppose to be based on. General point is though that eligibility for presidency wasn't suppose to have religious standard. I'm fully aware that there's no changing this, but I felt I should just let everyone know.

When we are forced to swear on the bible you can't exactly expect us to keep it to ourselves.

You don't have to swear on a bible...you can affirm what you say is correct

THEN THEY'LL KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE A GOD. They don't elect people godless religions like us, (I'm a natualist) atheist, apatheist, ignosticism, skepticist, etc. You don't have a choice because there a signs to which people notice and people ask questions. And knowing the idiots in American they'll think you're a Satanist rather than what you actually are or they'll try to make you into one in the eye of the media.

Not true at all, many faiths believe it is heretical to swear on the bible...the Hutterites, the Amish, Jehovah Witnesses, there are many other protestant faiths that frown on swearing on a bible...

Freedom of religion applies to people who don't believe in them, too. Apparently, most people didn't get that memo. Discrimination is discrimination, no matter what excuse anyone tries to use.

Mmm.... The majority is. At least they're to be because of my opposing religion. Christian+Satanist= Does not friendship.

I'm an atheist. If I were to choose a religion, it would be a pagan religion. Despite that, I have many very kind Christian friends. In fact, I would say that the majority of Christians are very accepting. The problem is that those who are not, are SO in-your-face about it, all the time; that it becomes easy to assume that they DO represent the majority. They don't.

Maybe it's just the ones I've met then. I rarely meet a nice, accepting Christian. It's not like I go around looking for Christian friends, anyhow.

The ones who actually follow the PHILOSOPHY attributed to Yeshua (Jesus) of Nazareth, are. The ones who just use the name, are not so much.

Presumably, America picks it's presidents on the basis of how well they represent the body politic. The body politic is not atheist. Suck as it might, atheists represent a small fraction of the gestalt electorate. The electorate are Christians, Muslims, Jews, etc.

. . .But fear not! There is hope! If an avowed socialist could sneak under the wire, anybody can do it.

I'm not an athiest, but I doubt they'd let a apathiestic naturalist be president either.

I don't have them on hand, but polls show that atheists are the least electable group in the country.
