I served under two presidents, Johnson and Nixon. My dad served under 4 presidents, Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, and Kennedy. They all had some problems and were not perfect. Maybe Pres Eisenhower had the biggest, he was from Kansas.

Criminal actions by a criminal military in the face of honesty.

The secrets of this administration are huge. Wonder if the true identity of this Barry Soweto will ever be known. The arrogance shown by ignoring this question is indicative of Obama and his handlers.

That he is pure communist we already know.

Obama or Romney. Dear Lord save us all.

There's going to be the few, like that @sshole who put partisan politics in front of their duty and loyalty to other Soldiers.

And they always end up regretting their failure.
    Like him.

They obey the commands regardless. i just wish they'd stop taking an oath they're breaking when following orders given that are illegal. If the Legislature doesn't declare war, there is no war, and thus the President has no right to command the military to carry out operations. Following orders was considered by this government as an illegitimate excuse in the Nuremberg trials. I applaud each and every one that refuses to act as a mercenary to do the will of an "international community", as their job is to defend We the People and the Constitution, nothing else.

In basic training, servicemen are told about illegal orders ("shoot those unarmed children" etc). and are told it is their duty to disobey an illegal order.
But no one tells soldiers about an illegal order giver. Does the fact that a commander has been formally appointed, and the government seems fine with it, negate an individual soldier's ability to question or challenge that commander's authority?
Many servicemen who doubt CiC Obama's right to command have already ended their service honorably.
I applaud LTC Lakin for making such a sacrifice on principles, but I do not feel sorry for him. He's an educated man and knew what he was risking when he made his choices. He won't be the last of his kind.
He will be in demand as a paid public speaker and is still a skilled doctor, so his economic survival is not in doubt here.
I thank him for taking a stand, and I wish him all the best

When I was in the Army (26 years 11 Mos 10 days) when I was a young soldier we we taught to report unlawful orders, As I got older gave
Classes on the same ,The Geneva Conventions And UCMJ all of which discuss legal versus illegal orders. They are told to report illegal orders to the Inspector General.

I think that Terry Lakin did the right thing and it cost him dearly. The "courts-martial" was really a kangaroo court where he was not even allowed to present his case. This was a disgusting miscarriage of justice making me begin to doubt a Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) which I had faith in. It even appears that his "jury" were obama's hand-picked minions ready to do his bidding. The military had to make an example out of somebody and he was convenient.

I do hope that if Romney is elected one of his first acts will be to Pardon Terry Lakin AND to restore his rank and pension.

In my opinion, most of the upper levels of the military should be "retired" and replaced upon obama leaving office. Patriot middle and lower level officers should be promoted as well.

I retired as an E-7 and have since graduated with Bachelor's and a Master's Degree. Maybe I could go back in as a Lt Col of Engineers?
