One of the most handy websites that I've bookmarked ..
in terms of tracking and seeing the warnings going up
for the Gulf Coast, Atlantic Basin .. Caribbean ..
(and there's even a East Pacific Outlook too)
is the National Weather Service's
NATIONAL HURRICANE Center
Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook ..
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo_atl.shtml
There's been several improvements/enhancements to this website down through the years ..
Nowadays .. you can click on the particular storm area/name .. and come see the specifics for that storm ..
and the trackers do show projected paths and their updates at regular times during the day
(for example .. right now they are tracking Tropical Storm Debby)
The site also has links to previous Hurricane Seasons and reports of activity too ..

NOW for Local Weather
for weather at your destinations (if traveling)
.. I do happen to like to reference this site ..
Weather.com's Weather reports ..
http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/New+Orleans+LA+USLA0338...
(I've just plugged in New Orleans, LA at this time .. you can choose your local area by using Zip Code)
I find the 10 day track to be a good tool for planning activities in the area
and to get warnings for heat/humidity .. as well as pollen (and boating) forecasts ..
IF you live in a Hurricane Zone .. it is a good thing to bookmark both of these as handy tools to watch at
least twice daily ..
Even if you don't live in a Hurricane zone .. they are handy tools to find forecasts and heat/cold warnings
(severe Weather alerts too)
NO Matter what .. BE SAFE .. be AWARE .. and check the WEATHER before you go out ..
your HEALTH .. your LIFE may depend on that knowledge!
PLEASE feel free to add your thoughts below ..

MY Thoughts ..+4Thank You I will visit this site frequently since I do live in a hurricane area. Went through Irene last August and I learned a few things in the process from first hand experience. Do not a repeat ever.

...or where hurricanes come EVERY YEAR.
...or in tornado alley.
...or near a major fault line.
...and I LIKE snow.
For local weather I prefer this site myself. http://www.wunderground.com
(Well .. at least the sandbags will be at the ready)
just keep a sense of humor .. things will go faster indeed ..
Weatherunderground is good weather site too ..
http://www.intellicast.com/
I check these websites daily . . .
I actually live in the Hurricane Zones ..
there's a pattern to these hurricanes indeed (and windstorms)
It varies ..
it is definitely cyclical ..
Nowadays .. we have far better tools to use technologically to identify these storms
(that were not previously available for use)
(not too sure about how to add to profiles here .. especially given my blindness!)
