I'm bisexual. I might fall in love with a man in the future. I'm currently in a relationship with a lovely lady I met at uni. I don't ever want to get married.. But i see no reason why allowing gay marriage affects anyone other than those involved.

Except that now, in trying to find that special someone, I'm competing with members of her own gender!

Though the kind of woman who would get suckered in by that kind of pitch, wouldn't be my type, anyway.

I may not agree, but it doesn't affect me personally. I dont treat anyone with any less respect or judge anyone because of what they choose to do. Even though I don't agree, it's their choice.

Since all of your answers neglect the societal impact of moral decline, I will answer this way. Society sets standards, which benefit society. Deviance to those standards hurt society, until its(society's) moral fabric is damaged enough to accept certain levels of deviance. The constant droning of equality, which is a false concept, leads society to change standard practice out of fear of offending, which as we have seen in societies far older than ours, have lead to its eventual demise. Homosexual partnerships are just another slide on the slope to our demise, due to rotting from within.

My best pal could find that tall, motorcycling rocker chick she's always dreamed of and get married.
Also, I live in Vegas, so the economy here would definitely improve, which it sorely needs to do.

Well, it allowed my mother to marry the second person she fell in love with (even though at the time Vermont was the only state where they could do it), and they've been together for the last 39 years. They'll be having a big 40th anniversary bash next year, and it'll be a blast! I also got the benefit of not just having a great mom and dad, but 2 great moms and a dad, so it worked out well for everyone involved I think.

We both lucked out. I was adopted by a single woman at the age of 10 yrs back in the early sixties when it was considered inappropriate. She was there for me when I was considered too old for adoption. Love is Love for those of us who Love ;-)

It would affect me only in so far that I believe we have the right to marry a person we love. I would feel better knowing this right was extended to all, because we really are all equal. Personal Religious beliefs really should not be considered, as not all of us share the same feelings.

It SHOULD be legal, it dosnt actually affect anyone but the homosexuals I dont see why everyone gets so butt hurt over it. Who cares if it goes against 'your' beliefs. As humans we have a right to be happy and if being happy means marrying someone of your same sex then so be it.

It would mean I would have the right to marry if I so wished, and honestly, if Britney Spears has that right for her 55 hour marriage, then why don't I have the right to a dedicated one? Britney spears marriage sanctity

People use their "religion" to say its wrong and judge them that are. But my God says love their neighbor's. You can't pick and choose who is worthy and who is not. Same sex marriage IMHO would give them the right to so much that I believe they should have. You spend your life with a person and that person dies or leaves and one is left with nothing because they could not marry? Wrong. It's not like hetero marriages last forever these days and that is also wrong as far as the bible. Let God judge and enjoy the wonderful people you could end up being great friends with.

Is that what it means to you what you might not get if someone dies or leaves. To start with gays aren't talking about marriage they are wanting to make a choice a right.Gays can marry just like non gays can marry. No one can marry someone of the same sex so how is it that I have more rights than they do (I DON'T)
  • Mechelle RED DAWN 2012/07/30 05:00:34

It was examples of part of the reasons they should have all the rights as everyone else. If you can't read between lines I will be happy to help by explaining further. Wow some peoples kids.

It means I have to get a divorce, probably loose my house, get minimal contact with my children. That is what same sex marriage means for me.
If other people want to get married thats upto them.

I'm questioning my sexuality, but I don't think I'm going to get married anyway. Same sex marriage doesn't actually have any negative impact on anyone's lives. People saying stuff like "but what will I say to my children if they see two gay people getting married?" Well, there are two options: !) You tell them that two men or two women can be in love. 2) you don't say anything. People shouldn't complain because they're too lazy to talk to their kids about how the world works.

As we defeat one form of bigotry, the "fabric of society" that supported that bigotry is snipped out and rewoven anew with just that much more equality. That' improves the game for an array of other minorities, of course. It'll never result in Utopia since equality is a job never done, but it makes the good fight that much easier.
