How much should the US spend on foreign aid?

Foreign aid includes both military and humanitarian help to countries around the world. Most is spent on enhancing peace and security. Some goes to help foreign governments that are allies, and some goes to feed the hungry and pay for medical help and economic development. How much of our federal budget should we spend on foreign aid?

America needs to stop "buying friends". There are humanitarian times when the need is there but Americans have always been the first ones to step up to the plate. The time has come for America to take care of home first and help out in times of great need only.

PS: Bought friends are only friends as long as you have money.

Foreign aid is generally given in terms of American goods and services so when it is given it is a stimulant to the economy. Of course it should be limited to things that actually help a foreign country and not to just keep their people under control.

While we get our financial house in order, I would ask our allies to pick up our slack. The problem with that is of course, most of them are not in any better shape than we are.

This administration just committed under $2 billion a year to Afghanistan in nonmilitary aid but has also now dubbed them a "major non-NATO ally", which opens the door to military aid.

Considering the United States is the largest debtor nation in history, the people are debt slaves that pay an "income tax" which is really an interest payment on money borrowed from private banks, out of control spending on every pet project imaginable, and so forth, no foreign aid should be given. People say this is the richest nation, but if that's true why are we drowning in debt to foreign interests? Just because you have a fancy house, car, and toys by going into debt doesn't make you rich, it just means you have a lot of stuff.

In addition, what is called "foreign aid" is often more appropriately named "bribe money". It's akin to the relationship between the Federal government and the States within the U.S., where written into bills are clauses that punish the states for noncompliance by withholding federal funds, which happen to come from the people of the very states its being withheld from. On the international scene, the United States gives "aid" to countries to bribe their leaders into following a particular course of action, or bill, and if they do not comply ,they're threatened with not getting promised funds. I would suggest to the States and the sovereign nations of the world to never accept "aid" from the U.S., as the strings that are attached could very well end up strangling you.

I want to know exactly how that state is such an ally that we shoudl designate them as special, the only one acceptable of receiving aid, and how they are the "only true ally". What have they done to earn this status? Do you realize they have the most intense spying operation going against this country? They have stolen nuclear secrets from our nation and sold them to our enemies during the cold war. They attacked our Navy during the war in which they attacked Egypt. They were linked with trucks filled with bombs on 9/11. I just want to know why people keep putting Israel on a pedestal.

Have you ever considered why every candidate has to attend AIPAC? Why Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and went to Jewish religious ceremonies wearing Yarmulkes and even participating in the ritual at what is called the Wailing Wall?
It should especially disturb Christians who have been misled to think of Pharisees and the persecution and attempted destruction of Christianity as a thing of the past rather than ongoing. Also the attempts to link the two belief systems together in a Judeo-Christian coalition that is competely false to the core when one realizes Judaism is a collection of what is called the Old Testament by Christians, Traditions of Rabbis(Pharisees), and Kabbalah, or mysticism and sorcery.

You an hardly even approach the subject without being accused of anti-semitism, hate, and so on, when it really has nothing to do with hate or semitism, pro or anti. I don't claim to know it all, but I've seen enough to convince me that at the very least Israel isn't "our best friend and ally".
