How many tims has a President failed to attend the D-Day Monument?

rhstarr 2012/06/30 21:27:57

In all the years since D-Day, there are three occasions when the president failed to go to the D-Day Monument that honors the soldiers killed during the Invasion.

The occasions were:
...

1. Barack Obama 2010

2. Barack Obama 2011

3. Barack Obama 2012

For the past 68 years, all presidents, except Obama, have paid tribute to the fallen soldiers killed on D-Day. This year, instead of honoring the soldiers, he made a campaign trip on Air Force 1 to California to raise funds for the upcoming election.

Snopes talks about BOTH Memorial Day and D Day. I'm no fan of any poltician, but I am a fan of the truth. There's enough TRUE and negative things to say about Obama, Bush, and all the rest to obviate the need to make stuff up. Those who hate Obama or Bush or whomever have no trouble believing everything negtive about him or her.

Lie…Bush Jr. only commemorated twice in his eight years in office D-Day on June 6.

No, simce France was technically our ally it would not be ironic but stupid. Irony would be for Obama to go to england since we celebrate our independence from them.

D-Day was during the time of racial segregation, especially in the services. D-Day may well have been devoid of any Negro participation. I don't believe for a second that Obama is neutral about race as part of his role as President.

Waldorf, I believe the truth is that race is not a neutral question for YOU. The president had a white mom and white grandparents, all of whom he loved. You are afraid of him as president, and that is coloring your opinions.

Why does this not surprise me? Zer0-bama is flat out hateful of America and the liberty for which she stands, especially her Armed Forces and the heroes who died to preserve that liberty. Marxist puke!

It is not true, look it up on Snopes. Anyone can write a story and claim it to be factual.
But in fact George H.W. Bush missed at least 2 D-Day memorial services at Arlington, he was vacationing in ME.
Obama did go to Normandy and attend some D-Day memorials there.

Actually Snopes talks about Memorial Day, not the D-Day wreath laying. I am glad people have the sense to snope what they read, but get the facts straight. I have not been able to verify this story or not, but too bad that it would not surprise me to be true. How do we have a president that despises all of what has made this country great.

Do you not know the difference between D-Day and Memorial Day?
  • letorleft 2012/07/14 23:34:40
The one I specifically looked up was about D-Day. So I don't know what you were looking up.
There was another article going around about how Obama has not hosted a national prayer breakfast also, But after doing a lot of research, I found that George W. Bush was the only president to host one every year since national prayer day was founded.

That is why many are not sure Barry Soetoro is a Patriotic American. Like so many of today's politicians, Barack has no background, participation or legacy in the U. S. Military so why should he really care ? He covers his own ass politically when he has to.
