How many, like me (a Christian...so booyah), have learned, or decided, to steer clear of religious questions as you are mocked and berated by those Christians who feel they are better than you?

I just don't discuss religion. I don't fit in with stereotypical "Christianity". My views are broader. The only person I answer to is God, and I ain't taking crap off no human holy roller.

Religious fundamentalists, especially American fundamentalists, are mocked and ridiculed because they attempt to claim that myths and legends are historical facts, claim the Earth is 6,000 years old when science proves the Earth is billions of years old, and they can't explain the contradictions in their holy book.

the science your view is based on is faulty. It was based on a pigs tooth and the carbon aging used was poorly done, and the mathematics were incorrect. Earth may be a few million years old, but we can make a diamond int eh lab in hours. Scientists have always falsified their numbers to get more federal money or support a less Bible based agenda. God created, is enough for Christians and people like you will have a hard lesson one day.

Of course, there's no scientific data to support your claims. In case you missed it, the U.S. is a secular nation not a Christian nation.

The USA may not be a "Christian nation", per se, but over 80% of its citizens claim to be Christians, and it was originally built on Christian principles, including our education system.

You're completely ignorant of U.S. history. The United States wasn't created on Christian principles. Have you ever heard of John Locke? You're obviously a crazy religious fundamentalist with no grasp of history. The United States was created, and always has been, a secular nation. I read the constitution; god isn't mentioned anywhere.

Go find some original work and not what is being coughed up in the "revised" history books that suit the "Progressives". Also, I think I said it was not a "Christian Nation", dufus, but from the time that Columbus set sail, to the colonization, to the first school system (including Harvard & Yale), Christians have played a large part in its foundations, good, bad or ugly.

BTW, nitwit, God's name doesn't have to be on a document for it to be based on Christian principles . . . after all, we don't live in a theocratic society. Secular is correct. God's plan is that we all have free will, choices, and that freedom means freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. And yes, we did and still do have atheists and anti-theists in the makeup of our country. Whoooahhh! ;-)

Thanks for proving my point. Columbus didn't discover the United States.

"Christians have played a large part in its foundations, good, bad or ugly."

Usually the bad and ugly, but your comment doesn't prove the U.S. is a Christian nation. Are you an insane Christian Reconstructionist?

The U.S. Constitution is not based on Christian principles.

Please try better reading and comprehension skills. If you notice, I did not say that Columbus discovered the United States, I said "he set sail".

Also, for the 2nd, and hopefully LAST time, I did not say that the USA was a "Christian Nation". In fact, I went out of my way to say it was not.

(sigh) The U.S. Constitution was written primarily by theists, many with Christian, Puritan, Catholic and Quaker backgrounds. People, when they write treatises, or other documents, bring with them their personal beliefs, and there is not one word in the Constitution that goes against Bible doctrine (aka Christian principles). You may choose to deny it, and that is certainly your prerogative . . .

Now, would you please read what I write and not what you think I wrote???

"...there is not one word in the Constitution that goes against Bible doctrine..."

Oh really! The U.S. Constitution, as amended, prohibits slavery; the Bible still condones slavery.
  • JAA GlobalC... 2010/04/02 04:07:30
    JAA
God does not condone slavery (again, I must call you a nitwit); slavery was in the Bible, because it was a STORY about real people at a different time in history. (and yes, I know it's been 4 months since your comment, lol).

Where are the contradictions that you speak of? Not all fundamentalists believe the Earth to be only 6,000 years old. In fact, according to the Bible, we don't actually know how old it is. Billions of billions of years could be correct. It's not important in the scheme of things, IMO.
  • GlobalC... JAA 2009/12/19 15:57:51 (edited)

In your mind, then, science isn't important. It's no wonder religious fundamentalists pose a danger to humanity.

Contradictions include 2 different creation myths in Genesis; contradictions regarding the number of children fathered by Abraham.

LOL! Okay, I'm stooooopid, I get it. You have a standard lack of knowledge where the Bible is concerned. I'd suggest you stop hanging out on atheist websites. The Bible does not contradict itself, only the people reading it without spiritual discernment, and those who take things out of context without understanding isagogics and exegesis. Best wishes in your anti-theism kick.
  • GlobalC... JAA 2009/12/19 17:25:56

The Bible most certainly does contradict itself; only a fool would think otherwise. The Bible is full of contradictions; would you like some examples?

I've heard the routine, and I've answered them all (sigh), but I have a feeling I'm going to be doing it again. Problem is, if you are not interested in the truth, and only in being anti-theist or anti-Bible, then anything I say will go in one eye and out the other, with only insults following.

I'm relatively new in posting to this site, and when I feel that you are serious and wanting to understand, then I'll take the time to do share "truths" with you. So far, though, you've done nothing but try to insult me. So o o o o (I'll be watching you, lol)

You can't explain the contradictions and, at the same time, claim the Bible is the literal word of a god.

To fully understand religion and it's influence on this planet takes a lifetime of study and that is why I'm a non-believer at present. Seeing all the hypocrisy and the backbiting and the sometimes downright ridiculous things people tend to believe in has turned me away from any organized religion. So my point of view is , stay away from any " ISMS " .

I bet your mama is proud . . . a hypocrite that can recognize other hypocrites. Every one of us is a hypocrite in some area of our life; otherwise, we'd be perfect. We've all given advise to others and not taken it ourselves. That's human nautre, as is saying and doing stupid and ridiculous things. When you get off your arrogant high horse and come down here with the rest of us, you might be able to relax a bit, enjoy the scenary, and stop judging. Try it. :-)

No I don't hide from anyone. Not Christians who demonstrate poor behavior or non-believers that act the same way. Jesus was mocked so as a follower of him I should expect the same.
I will admit when it comes from another "Christian" it has a different sting. I have learned when to walk away from the "pit bulls" that are just joy killers!

Just ignore it as poorly informed or ideology based beliefs and not a whole scripture approach. Catholics do not use a Whole bible (lots of passages removed), Jehovahs feel like only they will go to Heaven, Baptists tend to be holier then the rest of us, and methodists are getting confused because gays were not allowed 15 years ago and now they have taken over the church. So bible only, that is my thing.

Just tell you'd stand up to a jerk like that, religious question or non.
