Operation Solomon, as it is known, set a world record for single-flight passenger load on May 24, 1991 when an El Al 747 carried 1,122 passengers to Israel.

I have worked with the Falasha, their name in Amharic means "wanderer." Read the "Kebra Nagast" or "Book of the Glory of Kings," it offer an interesting historical account of Ethiopia, and the deep Biblical connections of the people such as the Falasha. They are a fascinating group of people, I celebrated Pesach with them.

Beautiful video. I am impressed that one passenger load was over 1,000. I can't fathom that. Glad they are safe and hope they are doing well. Thank you for this.

    1. Protection or shelter, as from danger or hardship.
    2. A place providing protection or shelter.
    3. A source of help, relief, or comfort in times of trouble.
The implication of your wording is that they're not Beyte (beyt) Israel, but as the Sudanese of a humanitarian status rather than Law of Return.
Why did you choose that term? Refugee
Should they be expelled at the appropriate time?
  • Step Up... Theodor... 2012/06/01 01:28:01
Of course they are Beyt Yisrael! And yes, the Law of Return does apply to them. It just also happened to be that they were refugees from dangerous rebels about to topple the Ethiopian government

I haven't addressed this issue specifically. Perhaps I will at some point, but some of the pages address these issues indirectly. In a word, I think we need to unify.

My point, when you bring in migrants you bring in their culture good or bad. In most cases as I mentioned a lot of the bad comes in. The bad can be religious practices foreign to the country or crime associated with it. So it's no cakewalk for the country that's for sure.

There were still many Falasha that wanted to return to Israel but were unable to (they had to make their own way across Ethiopia) get to the airport or that didn't believe they'd be allowed to leave.

How many Ethiopians or Israelis were there to help us out in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina took our homes and businesses away? How many did you say?

The Falasha were vastly poorer than the poorest of N.O. resident and had been outcasts for centuries. Their form of Judaism was not recognized by even the strictest Judaic sect because it was older than theirs. The Falasha believed they were the last remnant and had no contact with the outside world for nearly 2 centuries.

How would you suggest that they participate in something that wouldn't happen for more than a decade AFTER the even in question?

The Ethiopian Jews do not look like the average Israeli. The Ethiopian Jews were being slaughtered by the followers of the religion of peace and tolerance.

The term “Ethiopian Jews” was invented by Americans working to help the Beta Israel and was adopted in the 1970s by the Beta Israel themselves. “Beta Israel” means “House of Israel” in Amharic,

The term may have been first used in the 1970s, but their were many Jews in Ethiopia 3000 years ago. Ethiopia was a Christian nation until about 1975.

Then I'm sure you know that they don't appreciate the term 'Falasha', which was an insult hurled at them by non-Jews back in Ethiopia.

They also go by the name of "Beta Israel," but when I used the term Falasha, nobody corrected me. Just like the Roma, or also known as Gypsies. You can say that "Gypsy" is incorrect, because it came from a time, when the people of Europe thought that they originally came from Egypt. But I noticed they prefer the name "Roma."
