Jane Pitt, mother of actor Brad Pitt, has been scared into silence by the hate-filled, vulgar and even violent reaction to her public assertion that Barack Obama is “a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.”

Pitt has even been the subject of death threats following her letter to the editor of Missouri’s Springfield News-Leader in which she asserted failure to vote for Republican presumptive presidential candidate Mitt Romney constituted a vote for Obama.

Twitchy then spotlighted some of the tweets it found.

“Brad Pitt’s mom, die,” wrote Twitter-poster Sandy Kownacka.

A tweet from “I Bleed Gaga” echoed similar sentiments, saying, “Brad Pitt’s mom wrote an anti-gay pro-Romney editorial. Kill the b—-.”

Other comments included, “F— you, brad pitt’s mom, the gay community made your kid a star, you whacko,” and, “Brad Pitt’s mom is a dumb c—.”

I think Angelina has gotten to Brad in a big way. I remember years ago some reporter asked Brad Pitt about his thoughts concerning the politics of Tibet while he was there shooting a movie. Brad's reply was awesome. I will paraphrase here. He said something along the lines of, "I'm an actor, I act. They give me lines and I try to make them seem genuine. You want to talk about politics, go find a politician." Anyone else remember that? My, how far he's fallen.

My point is that Mr. Pitt used to be a-political. So far I have not heard of him sticking up for his Mom's right to say what she said. If that happened to my Mom, I'd be standing up for her rights. Did you have a point you would like to share?

Seems to me he's still apolitical. I think the less said in response the better.

Death threats, etc. are scumbag responses no matter the issue, don't you think? Unfortunately the First Amendment protects even scumbags, and if we want an uncensored internet, we have to put up with crap.

The 2 comments posted above aren't death threats.

I think stuff like "If you don't like it, shoot him" IS protected as something that's not supposed to be taken seriously. But I'm not sure about the line there (and I doubt judges are either lol).

Isn't it about time for Brad Pitt to grow a pair and say that his mother is entitled to her free speech rights? Or is he so indoctrinated to the Hollywood paradigm that he supports these kinds of tweets.

Of course it was Sarcasm. If Brad wouldn't use his stature and notoriety to spout off his biased unintelligent liberal BS (like so many others in the SAG) we would never had heard about his mother’s opinion and it never would have been made such a big deal. However, now that she has made her view known, she is getting the same liberal treatment any other person that speaks against their agenda gets from the left. Should be no surprise to anyone.
