How come shipping costs affect the price of food and gas but not video games or electronics?

The iphone is the same price regardless of where I buy it. The xbox 360 is the same price everywhere. All those new video games is the same retail price whether I get it in Mississippi or Massachusetts. But with food and gas its not the same. A gas station could be just a few miles and charge 20 cents more just because of shipping costs. When gas prices go up, food prices go up immediately but all those electronics at best buy stay the same price? WHY???

weight is a factor, and you have to have specially trained drivers for gas, and food is required to get to the store without the food spoiling or getting damaged (videogames are required to be free of damage too, but it's much less easy to damage) so Videogames are manufactured then sold quite a bit of time after, which is why water is the same price everywhere too.reply - Azazyel's Dragon 2012/09/20 15:15:37
