Iowa's Grassley responds to Obama's executive privilege move on 'Fast and Furious'
Attorney General Eric Holder facing contempt charges
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Dept says that President Barack Obama has asserted executive privilege to withhold documents a House committee is seeking in an investigation of a flawed gun-smuggling probe.
In a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., a Justice Department official said the privilege applies to documents that explain how the department learned that there were problems with the investigation called Operation Fast and Furious.
"The assertion of executive privilege raises monumental questions," Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley said in a statement released Wednesday shortly after the president's move. "How can the President assert executive privilege if there was no White House involvement? How can the President exert executive privilege over documents he's supposedly never seen? Is something very big being hidden to go to this extreme? The contempt citation is an important procedural mechanism in our system of checks and balances. The questions from Congress go to determining what happened in a disastrous government program for accountability and so that it's never repeated again.”
Grassley is the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee and has previously called a Justice Department investigation into the “Fast and Furious” gunrunning operation “botched.”
Tuesday, Grassley told the Daily Caller that Attorney General Eric Holder is looking for a “free pass” on the issue.
Before the White House exerted executive privilege today, Grassley expressed frustration with the Obama administration’s actions.
“The attorney general wants to trade a briefing and the promise of delivering some small, unspecified set of documents tomorrow for a free pass today,” Grassley told the Daily Caller on Tuesday. “He wants to turn over only what he wants to turn over and not give us any information about what he’s not turning over. That’s unacceptable. I’m not going to buy a pig in a poke. Chairman Issa is right to move forward to seek answers about a disastrous government operation.”

"Executive privilege protects communications with the president, the human being of the president, not with people that work for him and the Justice Department," Judge Andrew Napolitano said on FOX News today.
"If the attorney general sat down and discussed it with the president, he probably doesn't want the Congress and the public to know that, because we know of the awful events that occurred as a result of the Fast and Furious escapade. But we also know that executive privilege only pertains to military, diplomatic, and sensitive national security matters. Now, was fighting the drug gangs at the border a sensitive national security matter? And, if so, was the President of the United States of America personally involved in making decisions as to how to conduct that fight? If that's the case, this has reached a different level and we now know why the attorney general has ferociously defended these documents," he said.

But you really should be grateful - considering that Fast and Furious was dreamt up by the Bush Administration in the first place.
Q. How many Mexicans were killed as a result during the Bush administration? A. 0
Q. How many were American agents were killed as a result during the Obama administration? 2
Q. How many Mexicans were killed as a result under the Obama administration? Over 200
Bush Administration " Operation wide receiver " , 2006 was in conjunction with the Mexican government where RFID monitored guns were to be tracked and intercepted AT THE BORDER . About 500 guns crossed the border ( scandal ) because the Cartels outwitted the DOJ and the program was cancelled in 2007 .
Obama Administration was performed in total secrecy which was to sell guns to Drug Cartels allowing them to own them ( Create justification here ) . The guns were sold and allowed to cross the border with no contact to the Mexican government along with no tracking . Serial numbers were recorded in case the guns were ever recovered . Close to 2,000 guns were allowed to cross the border resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Mexican Nationals directly traceable to these guns.
When a US Border agent was murdered using these guns and armed with the Obama Administration mandated Bean Bag gun . The murder weapon was left on the scene and traceable directly to the Administration's gun smuggling program and the program was closed shortly thereafter .
The Obama Administration for reasons of it's own saw fit for US Police to throw bean bags at Administration supplied Semiautomatic large capacity rifles .

If that was the case, then Holder should have been HAPPY to turn over what was requested.
By the way, if the records that Obama are hiding had anything about Bush's involvement, he would have showed them months ago. Right now this case has nothing to do with Bush. Obama is hiding the truth. Nixon did the same thing. Had Nixon came out right away and admitted what happened at Watergate, he would never have been forced to resign. It was the cover-up that got him. It will be the same with Obama.
Oh, yeah, And no one DIED that time.
