How can a DYSFUNCTIONAL Government help it's citizens?

By voting out this current corrupt government. Nothing good has come out of this administration.

How can a government that can't even pass a budget hope to help its citizens?

-End all foreign wars; close overseas military bases and stop ALL foreign aid

-Bring troops back home and put on the border w/ Mexico

-Close Dept of Education, Energy, Commerce, and HUD. Homeland Security to FBI

-All Federal workers to take 10% pay cut for amounts in excess of $40,000

-All Federal pensions over $50,000 to be cut by 20%

I'm with you on 1, the first half of 2 and all of 3. There's no need to guard the border if people stop stealing other peoples' money and giving it away.

As for govt. employees and pensions, forget paying them at all. Sorry they chose to work for a coercive group who can only get paid by force but that doesn't obligate me to work to pay for their living. They should have gotten jobs in the productive sector where people interact on a voluntary basis like the rest of us.

Those obligations belong to the politicians who made them. Any politician who voted for a govt. agency or funding for pay and pensions and expenses should be personally on the hook for all of it-end of story. Someone else's vote cannot create a binding obligation on anyone else.

The first two and a half are good though. However, they aren't doing something so much as refraining from doing bad.

What do you mean by help? A functional government according to our Constitution of 1787 is to protect our Unalienable Rights. Then we become free to help ourselves.

We started out close to no government but headed at break neck speed to the overwhelming morass that is destroying the country under our very noses. Serve the interest of their citizens as opposed to serving the interests of lobbyists. This current state of crony capitalism has been an ongoing thing for as long as I can remember, so I'm thinking that perhaps it's just better at this point to elect people from third parties in over voting for Republicans and Democrats anymore.
