    That's great news!
Most insurance companies have already realeased statements regarding keeping some of the law intact, such as students can stay on their parents plan (my insurance already had that in place before Obama's health tax plan).
The 2010 elections removed many of the people who voted for this plan, let's make 2012 the year we vote out the rest!

I suppose; as I see it, a Republican Senate, House, and President would empower their murderous intent to repeal Obamacare. Republicans just don't care about actual people. Mitch McConnell admitted that unashamedly.

I was just hoping to get seadog to at least admit that's what he wanted. It is my opinion that if Republicans want to kill people, they should proudly campaign on it.

So I guess you think Democrats should campaign on the fact, that all the dying people will die before ObamaTax kicks in in 2014? Courage of your convictions???

Huh? You are unclear. If you are trying to say I excuse the murderous intent of Democrats up to 2014, then you have not read me much. However, the murderous intent of Republicans extends from now to eternity, and that is worse.

Therefore, I take it that you favor the killing of tens of thousands of Americans per year for lack of healthcare. Why would you choose to be that evil?

How many will die before it's supposed to kick in in 2014? Why haven't tons of people signed up for the pre-existing conditions list?
  • Spizzzo... damnyou... 2012/07/22 14:44:34

Of COURSE the Democrats have the blood of the dead from 2011 (when it should have started) through 2013 on their hands (how could it be otherwise?). That's plenty bad, but not nearly as bad as the Republicans taking it away without regard to how many they will kill.

The PCIP (Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan) has been largely a bust because:

    1. It's not been publicized well.
    2. It's complicated to get into (have to prove you've been denied insurance, when an actual denial is rather rare--most often insurers just refused to accept an application from you, but that's a different story).
    3. It's still pretty expensive (about $700/mo. in the first year as I recall, dropping to about $400/mo. this year).
    4. And what you get after all of that is a lousy plan (catastrophic insurance with $2000/yr. delectable prior to merely 70% coverage kicking in).

Bottom line: it's worth having if you have an ongoing expensive pre-existing condition treatments going on and have a good bit of money to pay for it--but it's no great shakes and hard to get into. Otherwise, it means sacrificing a LOT to get a plan you may not spend enough to use. Of course, if you end up needing hospitalization it could help a lot--but only 70% would leave a huge out-of-pocket expense for you.

It makes it a tough call.

How about you actually admiring you don't care how many die, because in your view thousands of dead per year is a Good Thing for our country compared to the "horrors" of Obamacare?

Unlike you (I hope you are not really serious, anyway), I'm not playing political or semantic games, not spinning--I'm using actual results of actual studies. You folks just don't care as far as can be seen--you don't even bother to dispute the data.

Why are they wasting the peoples time. We are paying them to do a job and they know the Senate will not pass a similar bill. Unless of course they are idiots or simply positioning for next election. If they are idiots, I hope their districts will give them walking papers. If they are positioning for the next election, I hope they return their salaries and benefits to the US Treasury because I am not happy about my tax dollars paying them to campaign.

Most people do not keep up with who votes for what and they do not want anyone running that is for the bill to say if he had it to do over he would not vote for the bill.
The revote is just putting everyone on the record. And you never know who is losing their seat because they voted yes.
I can not recall who we voted out last time around in 2010. Nelson is next.

If I understand you correctly, the only purpose of this vote was positioning for re-election. Since running for re-election is not among the Constitutional duties for which a Congressional Representative is paid, I expect their campaign committees to reimburse the US Treasury for the cost of the vote and the time wasted by the tax payer's employee.

Like I said why are they wasting the people's time, i.e., the time the people pay them to dedicate to accomplishing the people's business.

Our local congressman was on TV the night before the vote and stated he would not vote for it. Thanks to the local news - vote was counted for it.
So many times the American people have voted for a person that says one thing and does another -----I think the money to put them on the record is well spent!

To be on the record for a losing proposition .... now that is the definition of futility. When you vote for a winning proposal, that is called power....and I am delighted you wnat your representative to be powerless. That means my representative will have more power. My expectations is that my representatives will abstain from voting on pointless votes, aka, the state gun and revoking health care reform until those votes will actually make a difference in the life of their constiuency. I.e., I don't select my representative based on their positions, I select them based on their results. If you want an ideologue, wonderful but history demonstrates that ideologues have been expensive failures as politicians and leaders.

Bottom line I don't like to pay for losers. ... voting for a bill which has no chance of becoming law is a classic loser behavior. ... because losers always want to blame somebody.

Winners on the other hand avoid battles they cannot win. They wait for an opportunity to win before acting .... and if they find fault with someone it is themselves.

Ken makes it sound as though fighting a losing battle ensures the loss of the war.

That's not quite how it always works.

Committed ideologues such as Obama know that.

And an Obama-supporting hack like Mr. Ken knows that as well.

But, he loves that little political mindgame.

Keep in mind that as this was the 33rd vote by the House to repeal Obamacare to no result, there was absolutely NO chance it would pass this time. The whole point was to put the Republicans on record for opposing Obamacare. For the 33rd time. At a cost of millions of dollars. Mission accomplished.

Sorry this may not have been obvious....when I say the "definition of futility", I am thinking Don Quixote as described in that wonderfully amusing book "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha". The House voting to repeal health care reform is remarkably similar to Don Quixote's encounters with windmills.

It's getting more and more possible that the GOP WILL get a majority in the Senate this November. There are 33 seats up for grabs. The Republicans have to defend only 10 of them, but the Democrats have to defend 23. One Democrat Senator who's suddenly in trouble is Bill Nelson (D) of FL. Prior to the Supreme Court Ruling, Nelson was tied or leading challenger Connie Mack (R). However, today Rasmussen came out with a poll showing Mack leading Nelson 46-37 percent. That is not good news for 12-yr Senator Nelson, since the undecided voters will generally vote 4 to 1 against the incumbent. Here's the weblink if you need proof of this poll:
