Only 49 more states to go!!!!!!!

Hooray for Florida !

I-95 and I-75 will be jammed for the next month or so with druggies and deadbeats heading North out of Florida, because this is the first state in the union to require drug testing to receive welfare!

Hooray for Florida ! In signing the new law, Republican Gov. Rick Scott said, "If Floridians want welfare, they better make sure they are drug-free."

Applicants must pay for the drug test, but are reimbursed if they test drug-free. Applicants who test positive for illicit substances won't be eligible for the funds for a year, or until they undergo treatment. Those who fail a second time will be banned from receiving funds for three years!

Naturally, a few people are crying this is unconstitutional.
How is this unconstitutional? It's a legal requirement that every person applying for a job has to pass drug tests in order to get the job, why not those who receive welfare?

Let's get welfare back to the ones who need it, not to those who won't get a job.
I AGREE, DO YOU?

You!

The poster boy for arrested development obviously.

So what about this drug testing requirement for welfare recipients in Florida? Think it's the best idea since breathalyzer tests or would you rather just stay up in your tree top and keep throwing your feces?

What am I missing out on if you will no longer respond? You're the one playing Pee Wee Herman and avoiding the issue. What was it again? Hooray for Florida for drug testing welfare recipients or something like that? And all you're doing is playing troll tag. My mother definitely wouldn't stand for that.

My response is the same ... Cons only want to drug test disenfranchised Americans who subsidies only take a small portion of the budget. Who they need to test is the owners of Government Contracting Companies that get a large amount of Government funding starting with Halliburton. Or wealthy farmers that continue to deplete our budget to say the least … That is why I call you people ReTHUGlicans you people are just bullies … always bullying the least of those … pathetic bunch!

All those who rely on public assistance should at least respect those of us who are forcibly compelled to contribute through our tax dollars which we've toiled for in making this country's economy run and work at becoming self sufficient instead of living like useless drug addicts on our dime. It isn't bullying to require a little responsibility from someone subsisting off our charity.

Great point now direct that anger to the wealthy contracting companies and farmers and many other corporations sucking off the government tit versus bullying the disenfranchised.

What for? Contractors and farmers are at least producing goods and services. All these drug abusing mooches on welfare are doing is keeping bureaucrats employed while providing nothing of any good use to the world. If they don't like being disenfranchised they should get educated and get jobs and join the rest of civilization.

How should they go by doing that? You are bullying the wrong people dude ... farmers get paid not to produce things and contractors charge the government at least a 69% increase for their services ...

Getting off the drugs for a start. Then they should 'go by' doing the things that people do to succeed in life. How about you? Do you know how to 'go by' doing the things you need to do to succeed in life?
Of course maybe you live with your parents and haven't a clue about how to 'go by' making your own way in the world. That would be the most likely reason you would ask such an absurd question.

Of course, we wouldn't wanna discriminate after all. If they're suckling off the government teat they should be drug tested.

Try looking up the definition to hypocrite.... Democrats won't give kids a CHOICE of schools (they pander to labor unions), but will use their choice to take an 9 month old baby from the wound, except the head and put a spike into the neck, kill it and call it a choice - who's the bully - who's for children. You make the choice when you choose sex. You guys are all bought off with SIMPLE words and don't look past the surface. You support big government which has done WAY more damage than big corporation. Republicans donate THREE times that of Democrats. Democrats just want to hand out other people's money and act like they are doing something. Try and give people a permanent solution like CREATING JOBS - something that takes real knowledge - try it. I doubt you will or could, prove me wrong and take real action.

Lets see some real results and a cost/benefit analysis? (Sorry--Facts and Data please!). Things I would also be concerned with 1) Why not alcohol abuse which far outweighs all other substance abuse productivity impacts (and can be tested for for vs. simple legal use) 2) casual Marijuana may be illegal but has no researched impact on productivity 3) I think the cost really needs to be absorbed by the state - if someone is truly needy $50 is a lot! And though I call myself a progressive 'conceptually' I have no problem with this but as they say 'the devil is in the details'.

I'm surprised that a right wing conservative would feel that intrusive public policy should not at least follow Mr Romney's treasured business principals? I thought that governance was best accomplished by the soulless principals of sound business practice?

It doesn't matter to me if it saves a dime. The initial cost of the drug test is on the person applying for assistance, so if they fail there's no cost to the government. My guess is the number of people that will no longer receive assistance will save much more than the cost of giving the drug tests.

So if 99.99% of a million applicants pass we'll be paying almost 50 million dollars to eliminate 100 cases of welfare....That makes no sense. If welfare 'case' costs an average lets say of $50,000 the ROI would be neutral at close to 1% disqualification rate. Of course the moral issue arises if you are disqualifying a family unit because Mom's a loser and the kids then suffer. As to it not mattering if it saves a dime? That's no way to run a rail road! If you think that way maybe quadruple the police force, etc... - You have got to consider financial efficacy in any enforcement action.

I try not to be judgmental and I try to say 'They're logic blessed humans too...they just see things different ways!' and then I see stuff like 'It doesn't matter if it saves a dime' and wonder if they feel that way about OSHA enforcement, or tax auditing or God knows what....and then I remember they live in Wacky World.
