LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said Wednesday.
The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.
Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.
Do you think that this is fair treatment of Paris or is she being given preferential treatment?

She has been given preferential treatment
If anybody else was to go out here and do what she has done and were not Famous they would have to serve the whole time if not more. That girl is NEVER going to learn what punishment is.She has got a get out of jail free card in here pocket book along with money to help her out of her situations....View thread

She should have shut up and done the 45 days - it's not an eternity and it's not like she has a JOB or anything. Those in charge should have stood their ground.
The bottom line is, if Paris had half a brain, she would hire a driver. She has more money than she could ever manage to spend; a driver would be loose change for her.

officers found Hilton was driving with a suspended license – the result
of her DUI arrest last September.
In that case, she pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of
alcohol-related reckless driving on Jan. 22, and was placed on 36
months probation.
