The U.S. Supreme Court weighed in on the fight over the rights of public employee unions Thursday, dealing the unions another major defeat.

By a 5-to-4 vote, the court ruled that when unions set up special political funds to fight for or against referendums on the ballot, nonmember government workers may not be assessed fees to support that fund unless they affirmatively agree

In their beginning unions served a worthwhile and beneficial service. But in the past 30-40 years they have become nothing but corrupt, criminal organizations whose sole purpose is to reward those in their hierarchy and the politicians they can buy and control. They have outlived their usefulness and the general population is realizing this fact more and more.

Like they are going to abide by this decision. There already is a rule that a member can opt out. One member reported that he got an annual rebate of $9 out of his hundreds of dollars of dues as the share attributable to unions election spending.

There is a lot more that the Supreme Court should rule about Unions being involved in government at all. But its a good start. Now all they need do is rule that unions have no business in Government, or Politics. The notion that they protect the bargaining rights of government employees is a farce. The only reason the got involved in government is to set policy, and influence elections or the running of government, or provide jobs for the incompetent, at higher cost than the general public. They have destroyed every institution we have. Education being the major one. I don't think it is Constitutional that any Union should have control of who can work and who can not. And they for sure do that in every state that is Unionized, No Union should have the right to say who can work and who can't, or to what state a company can move to. Every state in the union should be a Right to Work State, and no union or the Federal Government should have the right to tell a company where it should locate to, or stay at.

Here's some more fuel for the fire:

The Supreme Court determined in 1973 that union violence up to a point is permissible.

I think the rank and file are beginning to see that as a card carrying member,
these unions have their own group of 1%ers and they are not in that group.
