I don't like Katrina being used by any political party. First they don't have a right to because they all failed. And the most important for the people that lived here it is personal and not political. We lost loved ones and I for one don't want the life of a person I lost being used to try to gain a political upper hand.

Any idiot understands that preparedness and then Help comes from the City gov't then The County then the State, Then the feds.

Three things caused the Katrina Tragedy.
1. An inept mayor that did nothing to prepare.
2. An inept Governor that did nothing in the aftermath.
3. Corrupt democrats that diverted federal funds earmarked for construction and/or maintenance of levies to their pet projects or cover budget shortfalls due to mismanagement.

Nagin is gone as Mayor of NOLA; Blanco is gone as Governor of LA. Makes a big difference!

I remember how the democrat mayor and democrat governor screwed the pooch during Katrina, I remember how the people of the 9th ward were too stupid to save themselves and get out of the way of a class 5 hurricane. Was not Bush's fault at all

Politicians talk about a bad U.S.economy then waste over millions of dollars on their long winded campaigns. Think how much good all that money could do for worthwhile causes. When Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, Mayor Nagen and Gov Blanco were AWOL!!!

Im from Houston, we bent over backwards to help our Sister City of New Orleans when she needed us the most! What did New Orleans do to show their appreciation for Houston? They told Houston "Thank you for taking our 70,000 hoods, drug dealers and Gang Bangers, you can keep them now!" Mayor Nagen would not allow them to return!

Houston, Texas made a Major Announcement two days ago to the people of New Orleans in regards to our assistance this time...... "Dont come to Houston!"

I live in LA and it was NOT BUSH'S FAULT. He asked for a manditory evac and was told no by the (D)s in LA.

Want to take a guess at which states are in trouble? Just look at which states are having finacial problems...they all have Democrat majorities in their state legislatures. Even the Terminator couldn't get anything fixed with Cali's vast dem majority.

Those states are also the ones with the highest black and Latino unemployment. Got to love those libs and the victims who keep voting for them.

You really need to stop talking about this as if it is a game. I lost family in Katrina and the last aunt on my mother's side. Everyone is trying to make political hay out of the deaths of innocent people. This is not a joke the entire system from the Feds to the locals failed the people of New Orleans.

The money that was used to keep the levies in good shape was used by the Federal Government and cut off by a Republican President. So like I stated this was a tragedy that is everyone's fault or no one's fault. It was a failure to do the right thing. Were you aware that some governors didn't want the people from New Orleans to enter their states ?

There were more then 1900 killed in Katrina we just got false figures from the Feds. Just look at the bodies they showed on tv did they move the same bodies to different parts of town please. They were still finding bodies even as late as two years ago.

I see that the conservatives are also using this for political gain. I lost a lot of family there and this should not be used by people for the sake of politics.

I dont think it is so much making light of the situation. We have to remember that most of the country doesnt understand what happened. They saw the news, and they may have even cried (as I did over Joplin and Tuscaloosa) but if they are not part of LA then they dont "get it" on other levels.

What so many of us are upset over is the fact that this is being used in the media as ammo when it shouldnt.

People tend to trivialize things that are painful to lessen the pain on some levels as well...
