Question US

HEY OBAMA, ARE YOU LISTENING?

Irish Weatherman December 12, 2008 17:51:28

In case Obama is seriously toying with the idea of requiring every American to have some form of health insurance ... he might wanna listen up. According to a poll commissioned by Consumer Watchdog, less than 15% of Americans support the idea of requiring every Americans to provide proof of private health insurance or face tax penalties or other fines. And 53% of voters were opposed to the idea altogether.

Here's something interesting to note ... Opposition is also strongest in the West (61% oppose; 16% favor), North Central states (54% oppose; 16% favor), the South (51% oppose; 13% favor) and in the Northeast (45% oppose; 18% favor).

But the Democrats are at the wheel .. so you can expect it. Now, how much is this going to cost? You can only begin to imagine.

There's also this little problem: Where in our Constitution does the Imperial Federal Government of the United States derive the power to force one single American citizen to BUY ANYTHING? Oh ... almost forgot. The Constitution really doesn't count any more.
Government imposed healthcare is a BAD idea.

Government imposed healthcare is a BAD idea.

While it would be good for everyone to have health insurance it is not the governments place to force people to do anything, especially where money is involved.

Just another one of Obie's failed policy's that fall's by the wayside in his quest to become just another idoit lair. How this pencil neck geek got to where he's at escapes all natural reason.I'm hoping that Illinois governor takes these charges all the way to the highest court so maybe we get a look at how sorted and corrupt Chicago politics really are..Is that Obie's house of cards I hear falling in the distance?

Government imposed healthcare is a BAD idea.

How are they going to enforce that one? You can't drive without insurance (which makes sense, but opened the door for GOUGING!!!). Now you can't live without insurance? I'm sure the insurance companies are eating this up! (Or maybe they are responsible...?) I can't wait to see what this does to the price of health insurance once we are all a "captive audience"! How many of you live in the areas hit by the hurricanes, and had to be subjected to the cheating by some of the insurance companies who now want higher deductibles for hurricane damages??? And they discourage any claims by threatening that your insurance will go up. They just want you to pay them, but they don't want to have to pay you. Wasn't that the whole purpose of insurance?

    Insurance = Legalized theft

How dare does the government demand that we get heath-care. If I don't want to take care of myself and go to the doctor then so be it. lol That sounds so stupid. Who cares if the government forces you to get health-care. As long as they try and make the prices affordable then that's cool with me. At the same time, I don't think Obama plans to "force" people to get health-care. I've only heard him talking about making health-care more affordable for everyone.

USSA - we had this debate on one of our clinging to gun web sites. You are right on the mark. The government thinks they can run everything, the airlines, the phone industry, the cattle industry, now the banking industry. How many have succeeded without costing us all more. In CA. Gay Davis tried to deregulate the electric industry and almost caused the whole state to go dark. The governments only success story is being a poster child on how to screw things up. Government 101, please the majority, not the minority, idiots... self serving idiots. Pelosi and her plane at our expense, Reid with the brain and logic of a mole... damn it don't get me started... where's my blood pressure meds?!

Thank you! Why did the cost of car insurance go sky-high (my son pays over $400 a month!)--and why do the companies discourage you from making claims? Because it is more of a racket now, instead of a business. You pay the insurance, they don't want to pay your claims. But you HAVE to have it, so guess what? The price is going UP NOT DOWN!!!

    Obama lied. Again.

Another fact is that younger adults that can afford health insurance don't buy because only the other guys gets sick, not them. Also, approximately 25 percent of those individuals that qualify for government insurance don't bother to apply.

Yes, I read it. here is a quote from the first article, dimwit:
"The idea of mandatory coverage, which Obama resisted during the campaign, has been endorsed by America's Health Insurance Plans, the insurance lobby that fought and defeated the 1994 Clinton health reform plan."

Here is a quote from the second article:
"President-elect Obama opposed policies requiring all Americans to buy private health insurance coverage, the so-called "individual mandate," as a candidate."

So, why are you this making stuff up? Read the articles for yourself and learn something.

You are picking out the parts that only benefit you. Its called selective reading. He opposes people buying private health care, because he wants them to use his government nationalized health care system. Answer me this genius....when asked point blank about imposing fines on people who do not embrace his health care plan, he couldn't answer. Do you remember? Do you remember during all 3 debates with McCain? Do you remember in each debate when he was asked about this and he remained silent? Sounds to me like if this isn't what he wants to do, then he would have defended your claim that he is against it. Nice try, but you are wrong again. This is a real story, and it is accurate. Obama wants government to control everything, including our healthcare. You embrace this idea, that is why you are trying so desperately hard to defend it. And while I will give you an "A" for effort, you still fail the debate.
  • Juan Doe Irish W... December 15, 2008 03:13:47
    Juan Doe
No. I took direct quotes from Obama himself. The rest of the articles' content is pure conjecture. You are reading into it what you want to believe. I am done with you since you can't seem to discern information from a very simply written articles.
