Don't you juvenile losers wish you could "fail" like this?!
From the Wall Street Journal:
~~~~~~~~
On Fox News, Mr. Beck averaged 2.2 million daily viewers and was paid $2.5 million a year. GBTV, which jumped on the scene in September, is expected to bring in at least $40 million in revenue this year, supported by advertising and more than 300,000 subscribers paying as much as $9.95 a month for full access to GBTV, according to a person close to the company.
While it is significantly smaller than his audience at Fox News, it’s still more than an established network like CNBC, which drew an average of 189,000 viewers over the course of the total day in February, according to Nielsen.
To turn that revenue into profit, Mr. Beck keeps costs low by using staff and equipment already in place for other parts of Mercury Radio Arts, Mr. Beck’s multimedia mini-empire, which includes best-selling books, a syndicated radio show that draws some 10 million listeners a week, public events, and Blaze, a news and opinion website. As a result, Mr. Beck’s initial investment in the network was paid off in the first two months, according to a person close to the company.
And oh yes - there'll be a special prize for whoever comes up with the most goofy pictures of Beck.
It's just so amusing to watch you clowns use those to cover up your total lack of original thought!
I do not care whether Mr. Beck makes money or not. He is an entertainer. It's absolutely fine. I expect him to do well on Talk Radio. I expect him to do reasonably well on the Net. he has a specific niche market (Right wing conspiracy theorists) which he has tapped extremely well. My hat is off to him. He is also capable of being amusing and poking fun at himself, a wonderful skill that I respect and that his colleague Mr. Limbaugh does not share. I even find him credible on some subjects (by no stretch all subjects)
However. Fox claims to be a News Network. Fox claims to be credible. Fox claims lots of things. Without question Fox IS profitable. We all know its not really "Fair and Balanced" (let me note my conservative colleagues agree with me on this) and that too is fine. However, to give the appearance of at least being reasonable, Fox News needs to at least project a patina of rationality. Mr. Beck, whether I agree with...
However, to give the appearance of at least being reasonable, Fox News needs to at least project a patina of rationality. Mr. Beck, whether I agree with him on some things or not, does NOT project such a patina. Fox also needs to remain profitable. It was not in Fox News' interest to continue the relationship with Mr. Beck. He had lost 50% of his audience in a year - which panicked the Fox executives http://www.politicususa.com/g... .
Logically, in a Capitalist system, Fox had no choice but to let him go. He was no longer drawing the numbers that he had, and he was giving them credibility problems - a very real issue in their business. So, they canned him.
For me at least it was never about hurting Glenn Beck, I do not wish Mr. Beck any harm at all - and I have no objection to him making lots of money. I'm not sure what your angle on this is - but if its that those on the Left were viciously trying to harm Beck, from my perspective at least, that's laughable.
Reyn
Then again, we on the left ARE much nicer...in general...(sometimes it's a shame) LOL
"Free enterprise in America" doen't always mean it's a good thing.
seriously???
i see you spew absurdities everywhere-
drawing false comparisons-
[pathetically silly ones too]
another prog trait-
both libprogs and neoconprogs...
enjoy this hobby-
Jesus was a huge failure, I suppose.
You don't see the porn parallel? Pandering to the weak and dumb to make himself rich? Works for me.
