We might have a top GOP contender, folks. And it's Herman Cain.

Never heard of him? Neither has most of America...

Under the radar presidential candidate Herman Cain catches the attention of the nation at Fox News' first 2012 debate

Cain admits that "being politically correct is not one of my strengths,” but that doesn't mean the former talk show host didn't turn heads at the GOP debate Thursday night.

Read some of the debate transcripts here.

Do you think Herman Cain can actually win in 2012?

He could. We had best get things right in 2012 otherwise there will not be a 2016 and he is right for the job.

He could win the Primary, not because he is the best candidate, but because the Republicans are looking for someone black to challenge Obama. And they say they care about the country.

While I like his approach, straight forward answers, I am not fond of his position on the federal reserve. Since he was an officer of the FED, I would find it a little difficult to believe he would support any activity to curb it's illegal activity.

I'd like to know more about him. One thing for certain: In a few decades, white non-Hispanic people will be a minority in America. The GOP must win over a substantial number of blacks, Hispanics, and Asians to remain a viable national party. It can be done.

Because he is a Republican, and I would never vote for a Republican. Even though it seems the older I get the more Republican I'm becoming, I would still never vote for one.

Am I to assume by your statement that Liberal Whites might vote for him? Why just point out how liberal blacks would vote? I can't see why a liberal would vote for anyone with common sense and conservative values...regardless of their race.

Zona, when is the last time you visited any Republicans in WV or Ol' Miss? I'm frequently in Charleston WV, and in Pearl and Jackson, Miss. and the GOP members that I know there would have no problem supporting Herman Cain. I was also in Charleston SC when Tim Scott, the first black GOP Congressman was elected from that state since reconstruction won his seat last November in a predominently WHITE district.

Please provide support for your claim that there are alot of GOP members that are so narrow minded that the candidates race is their only criteria for their vote.

I recall that it was mostly southern whites and many cross-over southern white voters that elected PresBO in '08. I also recall that 95% of all Black People voted for PresBO that year as well. Who do you think REALLY let race be their guide as to which lever they pulled?

You're an idiot. Those days were part of the democrat party, not the republicans. The KKK was started by the democrat party and so was the Negro Project which was renamed Planned Parenthood. Look up Margret Sanger.

I hope you are wrong. He is the first politician who has made me feel safe in a very long time. But he doesn't need to criticize our current president, whom represents a turning point for Black America. He is spitting on sacred ground there.

When only one of the panel of 29 voters favored him when they came in, and nearly all of them favored him after the debate -- that is an impressive performance. The one thing he needs is a strong foreign policy adviser, such as Chondi Rice served for Bush. Barack Obama woud have a hard time using ridicule, his favorite weapon, against Herman Cain. If he doesn't win the Republican he should certainly be considered for the VP spot, because with 4 or 8 years, he would definitely be ready for the presidency.

Ron Paul needs to stop splitting the vote. OR he needs to work on winning more than a year each election. This is not a revival it is a function of out political system.

Stranger things have happened. However, I do feel those running the Rep. party would not want to endorse him. So it would be an uphill battle for him.
