Here are 10 Political and Economic Imponderables that Should Drive You Crazy!
1. Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $40,000-a-plate campaign fund raising event.
2. Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when we have a black President, a black Attorney General, and a federal workforce that is roughly 18% black when the black population is only 12%.
3. Only in America could we have had the two people most responsible for our tax code — Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee — turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.
4. Only in America can we have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.
5. Only in America would we make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just become American citizens.
6. Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution be thought of as “extremists.”
7. Only in America could you need to present a driver’s license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.
8. Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of what a company that manufactures sports shoes and apparel (Nike) makes.
9. Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a trillion dollars more than it has per year for total spending ($7 million PER MINUTE), and complain that it doesn’t have nearly enough money.
10. Only in America could the rich people who pay 86% of all income taxes be accused of not paying their “fair share” by people who don’t pay any income taxes at all.

terrific poll ......
Oops.
So what was your point in bringing it up?
BTW, it's the media (as well as our President) that refers to it as the "Bush tax cuts".
I guess you could say they are 'clueless'.
(39.6 - 35)/35 x 100 = 13%

There's a difference between 'taxes' and 'tax revenue'.
So which is it?
2. Racism against blacks is still rampant in the United States, but contemporary racism is being endorsed and fueled by the black community rather than other races.
3. Disagree. Corruption is rampant wherever people who don't know how to lead are put into leadership positions. Frauds like this exist in every country in the world. If you think the U.S is corrupt, you should try living in Nigeria for five years.
4. Terrorists are religious because they want justification for their psychopathy. A terrorist raised in the west will kill people in the name of God. A terrorist raised in the east will kill people in the name of Allah. A terrorist raised in the right part of the world might kill people in the name of Buddha. Judging a religion and its common folk based on terrorism is like saying that all people who wear blue shirts are murderers because sometimes people in blue shirts murder people.
5. Shouldn't be surprising in a country with a population split in two.
6. Agree, I haven't seen people do that out of desperation and lack of good arguments in any other country.
7. Only in America do you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol. Most countries aren't so afraid of the occasional minor drinking or the occasional fraud check that...

7. Only in America do you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol. Most countries aren't so afraid of the occasional minor drinking or the occasional fraud check that they require proof of everything. Give it fifty years and they'll want a background check and a DNA sample before you enter a grocery store so they can make sure you aren't on the shoplifter's registry.
8. The government makes the oil companies look good. Their argument is invalid.
9. Totally agree. The U.S Government is like my ex-girlfriend: Ask for a large sum of money, state a sketch reason, spend it on useless junk, repeat.
10. As I said before, the U.S has plenty of tax money, and people are paying their fair share. The U.S Government just doesn't know how to spend it.
Btw...#6 they call us "radicals" because we want to constitutional limited govt, cut spending, balance the budget, etc...
I guess we should be more moderate in our positions and support: deficits, unconstitutional mandates, higher taxes and unbalanced budgets, right?
For instance except for libertarians no one want unlimited immigration. What we are arguing about is how to solve a 30 or 40 year old problem fairly. But we do need a solution.
Your point about the Constitution forgets that the Constitution was a compromise from day 1. It was left intentionally unclear in many areas because that was the only way it could be ratified. The founding fathers were as dis-unified about what it says as we are today. Also the founding fathers lived in a world that was very foreign to the world we live in today.
We have a tax code that is full of lobbyist written loop holes. Does anyone actually understand it? Obviously, everyone thinks it needs to be redone, except the House and Senate.
Oil companies like many business are experts at hiding profits. A depletion allowance for instance reduces income and profit percentage but does not cost the oil companies a cent. US accounting rules have a lot of things like that. The primary job of most bookkeepers and CPA's in America is to reduce tax liability and keep business out of tax problems. Those of us in that field are very good at it.

Yes, someone who happened to be a Muslim killed a lot of people. We get Christians killing people every day. If I judged all members of these religions by the actions of a few I'd have to demand the death of every Christin and every Muslim in the world. It wouldn't be lone before all the Buddists, Hindu's and Atheist were on the chopping block, too.
The problem isn't ID for voting it is coming up with special ID. Let people use any form of government issued ID and there will be many fewer objections. That is something I would support at least.
I thought racism was dead in America up until the election of Obama. Now I see people saying they could never vote for him because of his race. I see pictures of him dressed as a witch doctor. I am shocked that the election of Obama seems to have resurrected racism. I am shocked that the nomination of Romney seems to have resurrected anti-Mormon bigotry. Even though I've had an "Oh your one of those" reactions more then once in my life.
People in this country are greatly divided on what we should do to get out of this mess. That does not mean any of us want to destroy the country.
