I am sure you already have health insurance. Why are you against others getting some kind of policy?

I'm not against anyone working to get health insurance. If you think everyone has a right to health care, than everyone has a right a right to work.

Surely you don't expect the severely disabled adults and children to work. Most are SSI and get covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

Surely your not that dim witted to think I would suggest anything of the sort. I have a severly disabled child. You know damn well where I'm going with this, but instead you want to make an argument out of common sense.

    Learn and digest:

    Congressional Reform Act of 2012

    1. No tenur/no pension. A congressman/woman collect a salary while in office, no pay when they are out of office.
    2. Congress (past, present and future) participates in Social Security.
    3. Congress can purchase their own RETIREMENT PLAN. just as all Americans do.
    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
    5. Congress LOSES THEIR CURRENT HEALTH CARE SYSTEM AND PARTICIPATES IN THE SAME HEALTH CARE SYSTEM AS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
    6. Congress must equally abide by ALL LAWS THEY IMPOSE ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 12/31/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women, these people made all these contracts for themselvesw. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The founding fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

Now I have a feeling you will totally disagree with this and do the usual progressive ...

Lots of luck passing that as a 28th amendment, and Congress already pays into Social Security which was mandated in 1983.

You were the one frothing that everyone should work to get any healthcare.

Currently this Congress is only in the House and Senate chambers 18 days per month. The rest of the time when supposed to be home they are on junkets with lobbyists so they should be paid less accordingly.

The only person that was frothing...lmao .. has been you. Government workers do not pay into social security. Postal workers are government workers aren't they? They DO NOT PAY INTO SOCIAL SECURITY. They cannot collect social security and that is why so many of them get jobs elsewhere after they retire or before they retire so they can pay into SS in order to collect it.

I love how you liberals try to turn everything around, and we wonder why nothing on this planet can get done, you are one that proves why.

I said if you consider health care a right, than everyone should have a right to work. There are always those that can't work and we have laws and rules in place for that.

Of course postal workers pay into social security as a friend of mine is collecting it retiring with a disability right now. He has never worked anywhere else, and can't now.

I have 5 friends that work for the US postal service. Not one is eligible for SS. The two that retired, one is working for Home Depot just to get something into SS, so she can collect with her government pension later on. The other went to work for JC Penny for the same reason.

You have to have so many quarters of earnings to get SS. But I assure you that this man has a SS check monthly. Why would the USPS send this to their employees?

Ok, here is what I found out. Prior to 1984 Postal workers did not pay into SS, they had what was called Civil Service Pensions. After a law was passed in 1984 Postal workers did pay into SS. My two friends who are retired were pre 1984 and did not pay into SS. Also Public School teachers and state hospital workers do not pay into SS. Prior to 1984, Senators and Congressmen did not pay into SS. So anyone who is still around working under the old system do not receive social security.

In essence you were correct but what I understood from my friend I was correct.

There are a few of career politicians in Congress that had to start paying into SS after '84, and any newer ones since. Glad we got that cleared up.

Yep, me too. I asked the one postal worker if they ever got offered SS. She said the could have started paying into it after 1984, but with the pension they were paying into already and then paying into SS, they wouldn't have had much of a paycheck left. I can understand that, especially when you are raising a family. Have a good one!

It already is, I don't think insurance companies should be allowed to trade on the stock market. Take a look at the last 5 years of some companies and I wonder how many people paid the price for their profits?

They need to completely scrap this piece of junk and actually work on reform that would really do something to lower health care costs. Anybody with half a brain knows that putting the government in charge of anything inflates the costs and delivers a lower quality product.

if you had half a brain, you would know that the gov is not in charge of h/c under the ACA... private for-profit companies are still in control... just more regulated.

if you want to fear something, at least fear something REAL.

That's right. The government takes your money (taxes) and gives you very little in return.

They didn't even start out with a new bill. This healthcare reform nonsense has been around since the 1930s. Look up Huey Long and healthcare and you will find the current bill nearly word for word.

What we had before Obamacare was socialism. Don't get insurance, and if you run up a huge hospital bill you will never pay, the hospital will just charge everyone else a little bit more, and their extra payments will pay your bill because you can't afford to. Those who can pay end up paying for everyone.
With the insurance mandate of Obamacare, people will no longer be able to get away with evading taking responsibility for their own medical costs. And hospitals will not have to charge everyone else more to make up for them.
It almost sounds like a Republican plan, doesn't it?
