Headlines Premature in Declaring Death of Tea Party May 19, 2012 by Giacomo

"Abe" 2012/05/19 18:38:36

In 2010, the Tea Party helped to unseat a number of Democratic and Republican incumbents. They had a lot to do with the GOP gaining control of the House of Representatives.

For the past several months, I’ve seen more than one headline that reported the Tea Party was dying and no longer had much influence in politics and elections. Just like the November 3, 1948 front page of the Chicago Tribune that read “Dewey Defeats Truman,” the recent headlines announcing the death of the Tea Party appear to be erroneous.

On May 8, Tea Party backed Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdock upset incumbent Senator Dick Lugar in the Republican primary. Mourdock’s upset of Lugar was not a narrow victory but a resounding defeat largely credited to the Tea Party.

On May 15, Tea Party backed Nebraska State Senator Deb Fischer defeated State Attorney General Jon Bruning. Bruning was the favored pick of the Republicans in Washington DC, but the people of Nebraska evidently said that they were tired of DC politics and went with the Tea Party favorite instead.

Just as the Democratic Party considered the Tea Party to be a non-threat in this year’s elections, the Tea Party once again makes its presence known. And they’ve announced that they are still alive and making a difference in a big way. Their announcement is a message to both the Democrats and Republicans, that the people are more tired now of Washington politics than ever before. They want changes. They want new blood in Washington. They are not dead nor are they going away.

The Tea Party exploded on the scene in 2009. Their apex of influence has passed, and it is unlikely to return.. They are, almost by definition, impractical activists, focused more on ideological purity than on winning. So it isn't a surprise that they have embraced one absurd candidate after another, from Trump to Bachmann to Cain, or that they have been unable to unify around anyone.

And though we've heard a hundred times that Tea Partiers don't like Mitt Romney, what will they do if he becomes the nominee? They will support him because it is the only way they can stay relevant. The damage the Tea Party has done to the GOP's image—the debt-ceiling tango, the promotion of ridiculous candidates like Bachmann and Cain, has not gone unnoticed by the GOP base.

The best thing that could happen to the Tea Party would be for Barack Obama to be re-elected. After all, the Tea Party is fundamentally a movement of opposition, all anger and resentment. It has shown itself quite clearly to have no interest in governing.

And that ANALysis coming from a Librul hack who doesn't know the first thing about how relevant the TEA Party is, and will be in this election.

You think we've all been sitting back cooling our heels? Guess again. 2010 was just the precursor for what is about to hit DC and across the Nation this Summer. One of the main goals has always been the 2012 election and you're nuts if you think we're stopping now.

We've already made a huge impact in Indiana ousting DemoRino Dick :Lugar and have Deb Fischer in place for another Senate seat in Nebraska against Bob Kerry.
The TEA Party Express just finished up a 20 city Tour # VI with "Restoring the American Dream" and have a whole lot planned for the progs this Summer.

If 0bozo thought it was a shellacking in 2010..... he better be ready for tar & feathers in 2012.

I don't know what you're smoking but it really sets your briefs on fire.

See all the thousands and thousands of OWS protestors? You think any of those people, young and old , give a rat's furry azz about the now defunct Tea Party? Like them or hate them, it doesn't matter, but they are not going to vote for Mr. Bain , the Vulture Capitalist and Job Destroyer.

Keep hitting that bong. Your intense rants get more and more amusing.

The 'thousands and thousands'? What, on the 'BIG DAY'?
That's child's play compared to the Restoring Honor rally in DC that by both DC officials and NBC reported 300,000 people in attendance. Some estimates were 500,000.

Regardless, there hasn't been but a few farts out of the OWS bowel movement and the NYC chapter even had to hire the homeless so their 'live stream' camera was picking up at least a few bodies at times.

A bunch of burned out Woodstock hippies and the 'new generation' wannabees.
Yeah, America has seen how effective it's been and even your guru 0bozo, Pelosi, Boxer, Biden and the entire collection of clowns who endorsed them at first don 't even make a peep about them now.

By all means..... keep having you little tent sit-ins and keep the world laughing.

A bit outdated (written 6/10), yet I believe it to still be valid--------

Limited goverment is the reason for the birth of the "Tea Party".

Liberals spout the usual stream of expected banter: "It's full of neo-conservatives, bigots, racist", and anything else they are told to repeat. But the fact is that the tea party is anti-big government, which goes against the very soul of the liberal establishment and threatens the foundation of their power structure. Unfortunately , the liberal minnions cannot see or understand this, I guess it's not in thier instruction manual.

In my opinion, the tea party people appear to be your every day moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpa's, who have been too busy with their jobs, paying the bills, and every day life to have bothered much with the political landscape, but recent assualt on the very foundation of the constitution has caught their attention.

I believe these people are the very same who have been for years, refered to as the "silent majority"................. and they are silent no longer.

It would behove any incumbent to key in on the second word and act accordingly. To paraphrase Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto "I fear all Obama has done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.

"He who controls the mass media, controls the masses
