This summer, a Cuban-American radio presenter in Florida asked Mitt Romney what his favourite types of fruit are.

"I am a big fan of mango, papaya, and guava," Mr Romney replied.

The hosts could not suppress their laughter: "papaya" is Cuban slang for vagina.

This posting is pure fiction! There is a tropical fruit from Cuba called papaya. There used to be a song called "Papaya Mama" which concerned an American in love with a Cuban girl! I believe it was sung by Perry Como in the 1950's!

Lighten up - this is not supposed to be anti-Romney just showing the lighter side of politics. Look up and down the thread and see that people on both sides are enjoying what makes people HUMAN.

So many words mean so many other words in the spoken word. In Spanish just changing a word ending from an a to an o or viceversa changes the meaning. I guess the Romneys need a guttersnipe to do a word check for them. LOL

I read once that JFK, when he made his "I am a Berliner" speech at the Berlin wall, used the word for a pastry, not a resident of Berlin.

Well, i dont mean entirely prepared, just as much as possible. I wasnt blaming him for his mistake, its just people take such account of accidents like this one it tends to get in the way. Anyways, a general knowledge of the people you speak to is always a good idea

The interview was conducted in English. WTF. Romney said papaya? So what? It is a proper English word for this fruit. Too bad if it means something in another. Besides the word vagina is not a dirty word, just like penis is also not a dirty word.
