Since the republicans refuse to work with the president (like all other past bi-partisan congresses have done) to confront our border issues because god forbid something successful be done and he MIGHT get some credit for solving a long time issue, this doesn't surprise me either.
I would say that given the pathetic field of candidates the republicans have and the current even more pathetic do-nothing Congress, that to try at this point to confront international matters, it is better to wait until after the election to deal with them.
I don't recall any statement this president ever made that said "to judge him by the company he kept", but I don't think GW was all that crazy about having the drunks and losers he cavorted with coming out of the woodwork either.
I would say that if the haters of this president on drugs themselves, they can simply be called race hating bigots in their own right.

Yes Obama did have two years of the majority and considering the abysmal performance of this do-nothing Congress, I fully expect him to get it back but he won't try so hard to "bring us together" this time because with the current fractured GOP, he has finally accepted what the many of us on the Left figured out way earlier that the Right has not now or have they ever had the slightest intention of helping clean up the mess they largely made. Remember when he said "We are not the red states, we are not the blue states, we are the United States"? He honestly believed that but I think he's got the picture now that it has to be one party rule if anything is going to get done. GW sure was able to put the screws to us when he had the majority and yes, we will be talking and blaming GW for a long time to come, maybe as long as you bitched about Clinton only the Shrub did a lot more damage.
