Who is your favorite "benevolent" secularist? I have read of Christians being bad all morning and as it turns to afternoon, I thought, why not discuss the real "butchers" of history. Here's the hall of fame, or infamy as it were. And you know what they have in common? Every one of them is a secular humanist, denouncing religion. Yep, get religion out of the public square and look what happens.

Crusades, witch burnings, the inquisition, -Hitler-, ku klux klan.... People are still killed, raped, abused, molested, discriminated against and so on and so forth because of person A or person B's religion. The religious actively campaign against birth control and abortion. Not all nonbelievers have the same political or social ideals. The religious however have been more than happy to rally behind their beliefs to commit genocide because people believe different. The Crusades, witch burnings, and the inquisition all happened because a group of people were pissed off that someone else didn't believe in the same god as them, or their neighbor claimed they were a witch or a Jew. The atrocities committed by these people were indeed disturbing and vile, but they were not motivated by the fantastic writings of goat herders. Constantly I hear stories about how someone is being denied their basic human rights because of the majority's religious dogma. How a child is raped or molested by a priest, and the church officials are more interested in making sure it doesn't get out than punishing the offender. How someone will assault or murder someone for being homosexual or transgender, because their religious upbringing tells them those people are evil. How people can protest the funera...

How people can protest the funeral of a soldier, or victim of a violent crime holding up signs saying "THANK GOD FOR 9/11" or "PRAY FOR MORE DEAD SOLDIERS". How someone can run into a building and blow themselves up in the name of their god, or fly a plane into a building for the same reason. Don't you DARE presume to tell me that any sane person would do those things in the name of a lack of religious belief. Don't you DARE try to ignore the ignorance and violence that continues -to this day- because of your pathetic fairy tales. After all, even Hitler claimed repeatedly that his movement was Christian.

    Yeah, I did notice.
I also love that people bring up the Crusades (1000 years ago) as "Christian's long history of violence".

Yes, the scale of the conflicts never compare to what we have experienced with the rise of complete secularism.

Isn't that the truth? All I hear about, though, is how horrible religion is and how liberating it would be if all religion was outlawed. I'd say atheism has killed a heck of a lot more people than all religions put together.

in the last century, more people died at the hand of their own secular governments than in all the wars of history combined. That is documented.
