Emergency crews and residents struggled to clear roadways and sidewalks from a storm that rampaged through the Northeast, dumping up to 3 feet of snow and bringing howling winds that knocked out power to hundreds of thousands.

Municipal workers from New York to Boston labored through the night into Sunday in snow-bound communities, where some motorists had to be rescued after spending hours stuck in wet, heavy snow.

President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency for Connecticut, allowing federal aid to be used in recovery, and utilities in some hard-hit New England states predicted that the storm could leave some customers in the dark for days. "We've never seen anything like this," said county official Steven Bellone of New York's Long Island, which got more than 2½ feet of snow.

We have a name for what happened in the northeast. It's called winter. It comes every year to the U.P. of Michigan. We are used to it and prepared for it.

In southern California people FREAK out if it sprinkles. We had hail last week for 10 minutes (they were the size of molly fish eggs) and it was the talk of the town.

I had to drive slower on the Interstate going North in Iowa because a blizzard hit 2 days before with tons of cars in the banks and Semi truck tipped over. Roads were pretty icy. The Most Winter a Floridian can possibly dream of. lol

It's felt somewhat colder recently, therefore the earth must be cooling.

Thankfully, I've had no reason to travel into any bad weather this winter.

Apart from a couple of idiots driving on ice, which is to be expected, I've only spent two days shoveling snow this year. A very mild winter.
