Emergency crews and residents struggled to clear roadways and sidewalks from a storm that rampaged through the Northeast, dumping up to 3 feet of snow and bringing howling winds that knocked out power to hundreds of thousands.
Municipal workers from New York to Boston labored through the night into Sunday in snow-bound communities, where some motorists had to be rescued after spending hours stuck in wet, heavy snow.
President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency for Connecticut, allowing federal aid to be used in recovery, and utilities in some hard-hit New England states predicted that the storm could leave some customers in the dark for days. "We've never seen anything like this," said county official Steven Bellone of New York's Long Island, which got more than 2½ feet of snow.

Mike W 2013/02/11 20:14:15No+6No, ITS WINTER , thats what winter is, unless your one of those global warming idiots, oh wait , cold and snow in winter, can't call it global warming anymore, gotta come up with another BS terms for eco socialism,,,,, Climate Change !!! yea, thats it that way eco socialists can cry and whine when its hot oin the summer and cold in the winter....

Happened to be in Toronto (10°C/50F that day) when a good yard fell and it dipped to -15°C/5F (mailed color weather maps from the paper to my friends west to 'rub it in').
Got LUCKY. Can get pretty windy (Beaufort 11 in 2006) here at times however.
Not immune here either, Tropical Storm Freda in 1962
& the Hanukkah Eve storm of 2006 being the worst.
SoCal got earthquakes & wildfires to worry about.
Even snowed in Saudi Arabia, once.
Take your pick.
And, it's proven once again, that any idiot can post a poll on Sodahead!
The snow does look pretty on the mountains, it can stay there.
Ride motorcycle year round (except for the odd heavy frost & rare snow dump), rain doesn't bother me.
Even have passengers asking for rides when there is some snow in the side streets. Even a honey out bar-hopping when there was black ice (didn't go over 10mph) passing in front of a couple police cars (they were watching pimps) leaving one bar (only had two pints all night so wasn't DUI). Even been in hurricane conditions (Hanukkah Eve Storm 2006, Google) on open ground when riding home (wouldn't go OUT in it) without mishap (scary YES).
There's a champion surfer with Asperger's, riding a bike in slick conditions isn't that much different, undiagnosed, but sure I have it.
Car are a different story, dinged my Dad's (also an autistic) car on my first (unwilling) driving lesson. Dinged his minivan (he paid for a few lessons to get my car license, had one for bikes already) two decades later when I was a driver for his business and he kept insisting that I drive after being put on 'medication' (Haldol) the 1st time. I can't seem to pay attention while in a cage (same story with other drivers anyways). Had no trouble with bikes (started with a three-speed pedal one when 9), I just seem to 'more careful' automatically.
Sure, I had some road rash from minors spills (or oil on the road last time) & a few crunched t...

Sure, I had some road rash from minors spills (or oil on the road last time) & a few crunched turn signals, the odd hand lever or mirror.
Only need $50 to (obtain gasket from eBay) get my machine going but require a tear-down to fix (oil leak between cylinders & transmission casing) and don't have the space to do the work at the moment. Worked in a motorcycle shop for a couple of years so know how to do it.
And I rode this from ( a "T2") Vancouver mid-September to Montréal wintering [and riding in January] in Toronto returning start of June
